Simon Nabatov, born in Moscow, Russia, is a pianist and composer, working in the areas of jazz, improvised, chamber, world and experimental music.
Having gone through a heavy classical education - Moscow Conservatory and the Juilliard School of Music - he nevertheless gravitated towards improvised music and started gigging around New York in the mid-80's.
Since moving in 1989 to Cologne, Germany, he performed and recorded with many fine musicians, such as: Arthur Blythe, Ray Anderson, Steve Lacy, Perry Robinson, Paul Motian, Billy Hart, David Murray, Han Bennink, Misha Mengelberg, Ernst Reijseger, Jay Clayton, Nils Wogram, Tom Rainey, Mark Dresser, Drew Gress, Mark Helias, Barry Altschul, Vladimir Tarasov, Sonny Fortune, Wolter Wierbos, Frank Gratkowski, Matthias Schubert, Mark Dresser, Phil Minton, Paul Lovens, hans w. koch, Mark Feldman, Herb Robertson, Tim Berne and many others.
