SIMON || Sleaze | Redux XM Radio | xjR EU | djsimon.us
The very definition of a Dj's Dj. Simon has long been a staple to America's nu-electro movement, and more-so, a favorite behind it's decks. His former Sleaze events in Washington, Residency on XM Radio and work for the legendary Buzzlife events have all helped to shape the nation. His very distinct 'Maximal' sound, studio work and impeccable 3 turntable sets are always packed with fresh thoughts for forward thinkers and future classics.
Simon's been spotted in publications such as URB, BPM, Mixer, Bigshot, K48, Music Monthly, Fashion Wire Daily, and the The Village Voice and he has rocked audiences at many of the North & South America's most out of control venues and festivals.
Simon developed an overwhelming passion for music at a very early age. He was inspired by early New Wave, 80s punk and Progressive Rock. Once a well established skateboarder, at 15 he was picked up by 2 sponsors and was involved in putting on many events hosting some of the world's best skateboarding teams (Birdhouse, Sonic, Foundation, Element & Alien Workshop). He was bitten by the Techno bug and two years later he quickly began to take rank in the Washington rave scene, becoming a regular guest at the legendary Tracks and Edge nightclubs in Washington.
Simon soon started working as a street rep for Ovum, Moonshine, Mixer Magazine and began pushing music upon the masses. In 1999 he was picked up by his first agency and began to bud a healthy Dj schedule. In 2000 he caught the ear of Rave legend Scott Henry and was soon invited to the Buzz family.
In 2002 Simon created "Sleaze", one of the first & longest running club nights dedicated to the then newly emerging Electroclash scene. The sounds caught on and Simon's Sleaze events took on a life all their own, garnering media attention with musical breakthroughs.
In 2003 Simon became the host of 'Redux', the only nationally broadcasted show of its kind on XM radio Ch.80 'The Move' (nominated for a Dance Star award in 2004 & 2005) with residents Tommie Sunshine, Larry Tee, John B &, Dj Unknown. Every week for over 5 years 350,000 people tuned in to hear their futuristic retro funk and interviews with the best electro has to offer.
More recently Simon has re-directed all of his free time and energy back into his studio work, tossing out originals, remixing, re-editing, & otherwise customizing his favorite tunes for play. He signed to Tommie Sunshine's xjR EU label in early 2006 and in 2008 decided it was time to retire promotion turn Sleaze into a full fledged label.

But WHO is Simon? I don't think many people know me that well. Hell.. I'm not sure I do. I am not really the best with words. I'm usually described as high-spirited, enthusiastic & forward thinking, but the truth is I usually can't get out of my own way & I'm often to busy thinking about what to say next than to waste time listening to you (I do apologize in advance, its the A.D.D.). I'm also the worlds worst Buddhist; make me laugh and I'll follow you off a cliff. Make me dance and I'll buy your whole catalog. Make me think and I might actually be able to remember your name. Remember my name and I might just give you everything I own. I love culture clashes, I love contrast. The possibility of discovering something new is what keeps life interesting.
Music is a huge part of my life; it's my playmate, my lover, and my crying towel. I'm an EX-Pro/AM Skateboarder. I've been semi-actively rediscovering my passion for it lately. I spend every winter weekend I can, strapped into my snowboard seeking a rare peace of mind and solitude. I'm always down to have a good time & I am very adventures but I also have a short attention span and while I am often the life of a party, I can also be very secluded and have always been somewhat of a loaner.
"I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours. But sorrow, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places. Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality." ~H.A. Overstreet
