Accompanied by guitarist Mark Parrini, Simon has delivered his raw, heartfelt songs to venues and radio stations across Yorkshire. Brought up on a varied diet of Blues, Soul and Pop and influenced by such artists as Damien Rice, Glen Phillips and Counting Crows, his songs have been described as “beautiful”, “melodic” and “soothing”.

Reviews

“One of Leeds’ most underrated and shamefully overlooked singer-songwriters.”
Groovestealer Promotions

“Reminds me of Morcheeba without the shitness. Lovely.”
Frantic Corduroy

“Personal favourite song, Row Upon Row, sounds like it could easily slip onto an album by much more established peers Ocean Colour Scene.”
21st Century Music

“Makes Leonard Cohen sound like Mika…”

Hello,
We are playing the lovely Cardigan Arms on the 21st of March. Being foreigners from Sheffield, it would be grand if you could pop in and see us and bring a few other Leedsies with you if you are free.

Here are a few nice things people have said about us.
Have a listen on our page and see if you like what we are up to

"AN AMAZING LIVE ACT, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN" (Sandman Magazine)

"AN IMPRESSIVE SET FROM A BAND WITH A KNACK FOR WRITING CATCHY SONGS AND DELIVERING THEM LIVE AS WELL AS IN THE STUDIO" (Sandman Magazine)

"PROMISING SONG WRITERS" (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6)

"THESE DAYS I FIND THRASH AND POWER POP A BIT REPETITIVE, BUT THIS WAS REMINISCENT OF MORRISSEY WHILE STILL BEING PERSONAL, I HEAR THE POSSIBILITY OF A GOOD FUTURE. IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU COULD SUPRISE US ALL ONE DAY".
(Paul Gambaccini, BBC Radio 6)

Anyway, it would be nice to see you there.

Hello Simon Wiffen,
Our debut single was released on itunes today!
Produced by John Kettle (The Marble Index, Aiden Smith), and mastered by Mike Cave (Elvis Costello, The Charlatans), this gutsy indie ballad combines atmospheric piano, thumping drums and epic, sweeping vocals to create an uplifting pop anthem.

Alibi was released on itunes today, you can buy it for 79p!
It is also being released later in the week on play. com, amazon. co. uk, napster. com, we7. com, so if itunes isn't your bag let us know and we'll forward the updated links to you as they come through!
Thanks again for your continued friendship :)

Hello, we are foreigners from Sheffield that will be playing Leeds on the 12th of December at the Cardigan Arms. It would be grand if you could come and make noise for us, as Sheffield folk are far too frightend to come to a big city like leeds.

Hey matey! There's no name change, haha, I'm still Jason Wakefield. I just thought I'd make a profile for my older music with my old stagename coz I hate having to replace songs every time I upload a new one.

How's it going anyway?
