Books
Chad Michael ward is an old friend who now lives and works out of L.A. He is also a very darkly talented artist, photographer, and director. If you're not squeamish, I highly recommend you check out his work:
My favorite books include Memory and Dream, Trader, Someplace to be Flying - Charles De Lint; Neverwhere, American Gods, Coraline, The Sandman Series (Graphic Novels), Anansi Boys, Stardust, Smoke & Mirrors - Neil Gaiman; Neuromancer, Burning Chrome, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Idoru, All Tomorrow's Parties, Pattern Recognition, Virtual Light - William Gibson; The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy - Tim Burton; Snow Crash - Neil Stephenson; The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice; Lost Souls, Exquisite Corpse - Poppy Z. Brite; The Tao of Pooh - Benjamin Hoff; The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran
FINALLY! The first FULL Coraline movie trailer is here!
I built sets for this film. Go see it when it opens, Feb.6, 2009:
I am never very comfortable talking about myself; I find other people far more interesting. For whatever reason, though, people still ask me about me, so it is my sincere hope that if I post some things here, we can move on to other things.
At my core, I am an artist. I create things. As a writer, I have had the privilege of working creatively with other artists and authors, including my friend and fantasy art legend, the late Tim Hildebrandt:
as well as post-apocalyptic art fiend Chad Michael Ward (Black Rust, NBM Publishing), Boris Vallejo, Alan Dean Foster, and more. By profession, I am a producer and director of interactive multimedia and websites, and proprietor of my own graphics design company.
For a number of years I was involved in producing live music and events, which culminated in the Convergence 13 festival in Portland in May of '07. Here's one video from that event:
And here's another, one of my favorite unscripted moments:
I'm a very private person when it comes to my personal life. My friends know me. For everyone else, here's something: I have kids and am very family oriented, which is enough general information for MySpace. I love the outdoors, and moved my family across the US to the Pacific Northwest to improve our quality of life. Camping, mountain-biking (hills/mountains/city), kayaking, hiking, all that. If you're local and love the outdoors, drop me a line, let's compare maps.
Anything else you want to know, drop me a line.
Who I'd like to meet: Interesting, creative, and talented people.
What follows is for everyone else.
I am here for one reason: Networking with the sole agenda of meeting people and making friends. I'm not a random friend collector. If you send me a random friend request it will be deleted. Before you try to friend me, send me a message to remind me who you are, where we met, where we're likely to meet offline, or some compelling reason to add you. If you're for real, and we have something in common, and we could actually be friends in real life, I'll most likely add you. If you don't message first, live a thousand miles away and never travel, or have a bazillion friends already, I'm sure you'll understand when I deny you.
If you're a diva or drama queen, don't waste your time here.
About your band: I'm not here to promote you. If you think I might like what you're doing musically and want to introduce me to your music, send me a polite message and I'll go listen. If I like what I hear I might add you. Random band spam will automatically be deleted.
If I could pick my own celebrity drinking buddies, I'd choose Christopher Walken, Samuel L. Jackson, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Eddie Izzard, Sean Patrick Flanery, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Ron Glass, or Adam Baldwyn. I have a list of female celebrities too, that I keep in my wallet just in case...

Hey Happy New Years Jack!! Hope you're doing well, and good to hear from you - even by text! We should catch up sometime soon (like the next month or two)
Hi! So I went to see Bolt earlier (I highly recommend it...) and I saw one of those big cardboard ads for Coraline at the theater! Whoo hoo!
I'll try to call you tomorrow- I was going to call you the other day when I saw the weather was bad up there but realized I haven't put many numbers in my new phone- and the old dead one is at my apartment anyway. But I'll get it from Chris if I don't hear from you first.
