A law had passed, a false law which said that a slave could repurchase himself. How could he be repurchased since he does not earn money !!!
The hair become long kept gold and with patience the slaves all were repurchased.
After slavery the african King found gold and he repurchased the gold mine where he was slave.

Ici est un extrait du spectacle de conte "La roda des contes", histoires à propos de la capoeira et de l'esclavage.
Ce spectacle raconte l'histoire d'un roi africain capturé pour être esclave au Brésil. Il a sauvé son peuple et libérer sa tribu. Savez-vous comment?... Ils ont laissé pousser leurs cheveux. Leurs cheveux crêpus ont retenu la poussière d'or quand ils ont travaillé dans la mine d'or. Une loi était passée, une fausse loi qui disait qu'un esclave pouvait se racheter. Comment aurait-il pu se racheter puisqu'il ne gagnait pas d'argent !!! à force de patience, la poussière d'or qui se cachait dans leurs cheveux a servi à racheter un par un les esclaves.Ils sont ensuite revenu travailler en étant payé à la mine...
Après l'esclavage le roi Africain(appelé par les colons : Chico Rei) a trouvé un gisement d'or, leurs cheveux étaient si longs qu'ils pouvainet cacher des grosses pépites dedans. Quelques temps après Chico Rei a racheté la mine où il avait été esclave.

Here is the story of the CD « le voyage de l’arche »
Empress Menen Foundation was founded by Sista Yvonne Gayle (A.K.A. Askale Selassie) who conceived Jahug along with her husband Carl I Gayle ( first English booklet written about Rastafari movement ) and therefore already collected numerous witnesses amongst elders.
While meeting regularly the elders in Jamaica , Askale Selassie had a revelation . She noticed the huge knowledge and wisdom they had and realized it was getting lost because of the ever-growing gap between elders and youths exactly like it is within lots of our nations.
Those elders are able to witness what they’ve seen, the police harrassing anyone wearing dreadlocks, Haile Sellasie’s visit to Jamaica, Rasta History in Jamaica and the philosophy ensuing from His Majesty Haile Selassie’s teachings.
The oral transmission is fundamental in Rasta education because of the living side of this speech ( as Bob Marley says : “Jah live !” ) .Language carries emotions and passes on the ancient speech far beyond words themselves .
At the beginning Askale Selassie wanted to bring generations nearer through Empress Menen Foundation , connecting Elders and youths wishing to learn, know, share and discover their view of the Rasta philosophy .
with the passing of time, she realized that the Elders were refusing cares in public hospitals where they didn’t feel respected within their philosophy, that they became paperless and therefore without any kind of social help, and that some of them with no close family left are living at 80 years old in rough and precarious conditions which can even be harmfull for their lives.
Askale Selassie ( Yvonne Gayle ) had the idea to raise fund to build up a rasta retirement home for elders, where they would have been cared for and cherished within the respect of their livity and tradition. .
It would also allow school classes (as well as summer camps ) to come and meet them, exchange and share this living joy that shows even through phonecalls ( and I can testify that each and every call is a lesson of life that flies far beyond words )
I met Sista Askale and she asked me to be the French EMF representative. I tried to call on donations, but it’s quite hard to raise funds without any support nor medium.
In 1998 I’ve created a show about the Rastafari movement and about the Kebra Negast and performed it with my drums. In 2003 I’ve been joined by Selecta President from Easy Style sound system who played riddims with vinyl records in order to create a show called at that time « contes et sound system » . "The journey of the Ark" .
After meeting Askale an idea immerged: Why not using this show which was actually an humble testimony of all what had been shared with me along my long road to Rastafari .
Which better way could I find to pay a tribute to all those who had transmitted me their knowledge without any kind of restriction ? A tribute album occurred to be the best support to raise funds for the very ones joyfully sharing their knowledge .
But to issue a CD, I was needing original musics. I called on myspace and forum users, I’ve been heard and together we created 17 original riddims on which I adapted my lyrics.
Here are the artists that got involved and offered their talent.
Mrick from Whada Roots mixed 15 out of 17 tunes
Ras Bruno from Herban Music masterised the whole album
Mylène from La Cavasons recorded almost all of the voices
Whada Roots lent us his studio to record the nyabinghy.

COLOSIMO sings on Obadia’s songs
I have to insist on the fact that all the involved artists freely offered their talent to give a helping hand to Elders .
I’m the author of the lyrics except Colosimo’s songs who writes his own lyrics. We have the material, now we have to sell it ! 100 % of the benefits will go for the Elders, ( with proof for each and every transaction available for who wishes to check). Elders with ID can get the money directly through Western Union, the others will get the money through Empress Menen Foundation. EMF will share out funds during their visits to Jamaica and Ethiopia, to who is need, reliable brothers and sisters going frequently to Ethiopia will also forward funds .

Voici l histoire du cd "le voyage de l'Arche":
L Empress Mennen Foundation a été créé par Sista Yvonne Gayle (Askale Selassie) qui est avec son mari Carl I Gayle à l'origine des Jahug, premiers livrets en anglais écrits sur le mouvement rasta et ayant déjà fait un travail de collectage auprès des anciens.
Askale Selassie a eut une révélation en rencontrant les elders régulièrement en Jamaique, Elle s'est aperçu de toutes la connaissance et sagesse qu'ils possédaient et qui malheureusement se perdaient car un fossé se creusait entre les jeunes et les vieux comme dans beaucoup de nos nations.
Ces anciens peuvent témoigner avec une parole vivante de ce qu'ils ont vécu, des raids organisés à l'époque par la police envers tous ceux qui portaient des dreadlocks, de la visite d'Hailé Sélassié , de l'historique Rasta en Jamaique et de la philosophie tirée des enseignements de sa Majesté Hailé Sélassié.
La transmission orale est fondamentale dans l'éducation rasta car elle est une parole vivante, (telle la chanson de Bob Marley Jahlive, qui signifie Jah vit) le verbe emmène avec lui les émotions et transmet la parole ancestrale au delà des mots.
Au départ Askale Selassie a voulu rapprocher les générations par l'Empress Mennen Foundation, servant à mettre en relation les Elders et les jeunes voulant apprendre , connaître, partager et découvrir leur version de la philosophie rasta.
Avec le temps, elle s'est aperçu que les Elders refusaient les soins en hopitaux publics où ils ne se sentent pas respecteés dans leur philosophie , se retrouvaient souvent sans papiers et donc sans droits à une aide de l’état et certains n’ayant plus de famille , vivent à 80 ans dans des conditions précaires et dangereuses pour leur vie. Askale Selassie (Yvonne Gayle) a eut l'idée de récolter des fonds pour construire une maison de retraite rasta pour les anciens, ils y seraient soignés et chéris dans le respect de leurs traditions et coutumes.
Cela permettrait aussi à des classes scolaires ( ainsi que des colonies de vacances organisées) de venir les rencontrer , échanger et partager cette joie de vivre qui transparait même par téléphone (j'en suis témoin, chaque fois que je les appelle, c'est une leçon de vie au delà des mots).
J'ai rencontré Sista Askalé et elle m'a demandé d'être la représentante française de l’EMF, j’ai bien essayé l’appel aux dons, mais difficile de récolter des fonds sans support...
J'avais créé un spectacle en 1998 sur le mouvement Rastafari et le Kebra Nagast que je jouais avec mes percussions. En 2003 Selecta President d'Easy Style sound system a accepté de m'accompagner avec des riddims sur vinyls pour créer un spectacle appelé à ce moment là « «Contes et sound system »"le voyage de l'Arche".
Après ma rencontre avec Askale l'idée m'est venu de me servir de ce spectacle qui n'est qu'un témoignage de ce qui m'a été partagé tout au long du chemin de vie vers Rastafari.
Quel meilleur moyen pouvais je trouver pour rendre hommage à tous ceux qui m'avaient transmis sans restriction leur savoir ? Un album en leur hommage m’a semblé le plus juste support pouvant servir à récolter des fonds pour ceux même qui transmettaient avec joie leur savoir.
Seulement pour pouvoir sortir un cd il me fallait des musiques originales. J'ai lancé un appel sur myspace, et sur les forums. l'appel a été entendu et nous avons réussi à créer 17 musiques originales sur lesquelles j'ai adapté les textes de mon spectacle.
Voici les artistes qui se sont engagés et ont offert leur talent.

Nous avons le support, maintenant nous devons le vendre et 100 % des bénéfices iront aux elders, avec preuve à l'appui à chaque envoi d'argent pour ceux qui le voudront.
Certains elders ont des papiers d'identité et peuvent donc recevoir directement l'argent par western union ou bien l'argent est versé à l Empress Mennen Foundation qui lors de ces voyages en Ethiopie et Jamaique distribuera les fonds à ceux qui en ont besoin et il y aura aussi des fonds envoyés par l'intermédiaire de frères et de soeurs de confiance allant régulièrement en Ethiopie.

Well some of us live to please our society, and some of us live to please the law of nature
Witch side is the right side of the fence, u figure it out for u self. some of us live for the world. wile some of us down to earth. We are the same in blood flesh and bones. but do no think the same way always.
Some of us neglect the lawe of nature for the law of men . like wise some neglect the law of man to honor the law of nature. now we wondering witch side of the fence we should b. well. some will say put one foot in de pond and one must b out. witch meen we sitting on both side of the fence. u say why now enjoy the best of both world.
To please society always like the easy thing to do. but yet we know it is verry hard to keep up with the jones if u pour . so to keep up with society , we have to do like it said.
but what about the law of nature . it have no meaning in this world today. yes i think it does.cause all this co2 thing wa going on and the melting of the ice and all these natural dezaster going on in this world today. it is all to remind us the law of nature is still the bass of law, and not the law of society.
mankind we crave more for meterial values and not for the values of humanity.. we only seem to reconise some one in the society . who have presteag life. like simple mucsic some of us have faverate music we like most ,even artest some of us fantisize ourself with them. cause of the rich and famos game.and we keep soporting the rich and famos.
we want to b in that society
It is all in the law of society. HUMANITY, to some it is secondery.
THEN THERE IS CLASS SOCIETY, even in schools and universities
This world is full of illusion , so we must think .then make a positive dessision.
