Consisting of Anita "Pa" Lofton on Guitar, Kofy Brown on Bass, and Ieela Grant on Drums, SISTAS IN THE PIT are ready to bust out onto the music scene. This unique blend of Rock & Roll, is being expressed from the power of the feminine.
Anita "Pa" Lofton is the eclectic guitarist known nationally and internationally as DJ Anita Lofton. She brings to the table her experience on the lead guitar and is the cutting edge melody of the SISTAS IN THE PIT. Anita's grasp of the funk wah, and grunge electric are intuitive and alluring. Her electric fuzz puts a stamp of uniqueness to the sound of SISTAS IN THE PIT!
World renowned Hip Hop Soul artist Kofy Brown brings her sensual and erotic bass styling to SISTAS IN THE PIT. Deep, heavy, thumping tones is how Kofy expresses on the Bass. Whether she's thumping and plucking or grooving in the rhythm, her tender tones convey the warmth and soul of SISTAS IN THE PIT. With years of performing around the world, Kofy Brown is now ready to be a part of an electrifying trio asserting her raw energy, funk, and power of the erotic.
Ieela Grant, the backbone of the SISTAS, is holding the Pit down on the drum kit. Her repertoire also includes the Congas, Bongos, and the Djembe. With her hard hitting yet graceful finesse, Ieela's focus on groove & pocket keep the SISTAS tight, and rock steady.
These three women embody the words young, gifted, and black. With raw feminine power and an ocean of creativity, SISTAS IN THE PIT intend to completely blow your mind.

MOVIE Premier in SF Your Invited. Five years in Making.... All My Life Egypt, 2008, 150 Minute Running Time Genre/Subjects: Drama, Gay, Homophobia, Local Filmmakers / Subjects, Middle Eastern Program: World Cinema Language: Egyptian, Arabic English Sub-Titles
Epic in length but intimate in scope — and certainly the most daring and sexually explicit portrait of homosexual life in Egypt yet put on screen — Maher Sabry’s film evocatively details the tribulations of 26-year-old Rami, an accountant and dance student living in Cairo. Rami’s boyfriend, Waleed, has just ended their relationship in order to get married. His best girlfriend Dalia is leaving Egypt for San Francisco. And his doctor pal Kareem is pestering him to be more involved in the city’s quasi-underground gay community.
As Rami pursues his own romantic path of one-night stands with closet cases and fetishizing tourists, Kareem is arrested in a police raid on a floating discotheque called the Queen Boat (based on an actual incident in 2001, which catalyzed gay Egyptians and a variety of international human rights organizations into action).
In his ambitious profile of the multifaceted world of his main character, Sabry’s wide-reaching story also includes a devout man living upstairs from Rami, who is trying to quell his longing for women, and an unhappily closeted kid named Mina, who lives across the way. All of these characters are portrayed with palpable compassion — and often in various states of undress — with a variety of dramatic denouements.
A fascinating, if dispiriting, portrait of the current situation for gay Egyptians, All My Life represents a bold cinematic step forward and sets the benchmark for future explorations.
