"What is Sketchel?"
Sketchel is a one of a kind 'original art satchel' concept, featuring over 800 works by some of todays most celebrated and up & coming artists from around the world including Gary Baseman (L.A) John Burgerman (U,K) Miss Van (Barcelona), TADO (U.K) Furi Furi (Japan), Scarygirl (Canada) Fawn Gehweiler (California) and a recent collaboration with musician Beck and artist Genevieve Gauckler (Paris)
Creators, Jeremyville and Megan Mair were one day flying to Paris from New York in January 2004. As is their custom, they drew a lot on that flight, and one
idea that came from this journey was sketchel! A year later it was launched at Semi Permanent as a collaborative Art Show.
Each artist contributing to sketchel has been selected by a core curatorial committee, and is invited to create a one of a kind design specifically for sketchel,
in any medium, from stencil art, graf, illustration, texta, pen, ink, screenprint, applique...These 'original' art panels are then made up into sketchels.
This makes each Sketchel a unique, collectible art object, sort of like a moving gallery of the best and freshest artists and designers in the world today.
A Sketchel is something very personal, a one of a kind art work. Its not a mass market or mass produced object at all, but rather, the opposite of that!
