When Peter Doherty asked The Skuzzies to play the notorious Baby Shambles Astoria riot in December 2004, they won over a fractious 4000 strong crowd, before mysteriously vanishing after taking the night bus to Deptford. Homelessness and hard times forced the band to take a 2 year hiatus until founding member Jerome Alexandre resurrected The Skuzzies with ace sticksman Nick Le West in 2006. As Jerome explains "I got The Skuzzies back together 'cos everyone wanted to know what had happened to us. So did I." In early 2007, the band recorded demo's with Strokes producer Gordon Raphael who described The Skuzzies as 'The best new band in London in the last 5 years'. On the strength of their demo's, they signed to indie punk label, Framingo for a 2 single deal which culminated in the release of 'Dissastisfied.' Radio play followed in the U.S, UK and Europe. Hailed by Artrocker magazine as 'A band to watch out for in 2008' The Skuzzies gritty songs of street life and intense live performances have won them a dedicated audience and respect from Clash icon Mick Jones, with whom they played in December 2008. Taken under the wing of Johnny Thunder's friend and biographer Nina Antonia , The Skuzzies have played with Babyshambles,The Noisettes, Metro Riots,The Towers of London and The Paddingtons.
