The rumors in town are true.
Who I'd like to meet: Good natured folks with a passion for music and drink.
Slabtown | 1033 NW 16th Ave, 503-223-0099 | more info = Say It Aint Weezer, The Clampdown [TRIBUTE ROCK] Well, when you put what must be the world’s most sincere and excitable Weezer cover band (one that realizes most of the real Weezer’s recent catalog isn’t worth learning) alongside what may well be the world’s only enjoyable Clash tribute act, you’re making, like, three or four generations really happy. Say It Aint Weezer plays its muse’s tunes with a passion seldom found outside the tribute world. The Clampdown, fronted by Portland rocker-musicologist-soul heavyweight Barry Hampton, is more a lovingly loose cover band than a tribute act (Hampton has a hard time pulling off the Joe Strummer look), but it’s fun nonetheless. None of this stuff translates well to YouTube videos or live recordings: You’ve just gotta be there. CASEY JARMAN. 9 pm. 1033 NW 16th Ave., 223-0099. $6. 21+.
Just stopping by to say hello and wish you well over the weekend and beyond. Maybe you could stop by and say hi too and give our music a space in your space. Much peace from Portland and The River Project
