   About sleepmakeswaves

sleepmakeswaves are an instrumental rock band from Sydney, Australia. Drawing influences mainly from but not limited to post-rock, the young quartet mix driving metallic bombast with textured electronics to create a sonic space where delicate melodies and thunderous climaxes peacefully co-exist.

Since their formation in late 2006, sleepmakeswaves have rapidly established themselves as a promising and unique voice in their field. Within the space of a year the band has enjoyed considerable word-of-mouth support and have landed auspicious opening slots with post-rock luminaries such as Pelican, Laura and Meniscus on the back of their powerful live show and acclaimed demo recording.

~

A rainbow wall of prettiness - like any piece of good art, it’ll capture you for that brief, but striking moment. - sputnikmusic

If you are in search of a precisely produced, sweepingly cinematic, post-rock album then search no further. - The Silent Ballet

Within a post-rock framework sleepmakeswaves have created an EP that is dynamic, bombastic and above all, mesmerising. The music sweeps from delicately-textured ambience to shattering metallic riffage and back again in the blink of an eye, held together and underpinned by driving rhythms and delicious melodies. - OzProg

A glorious speaker pummelling symphony of refined and tamed turbulence. Think Sigur Ros’ mood evoking glacial plateaus set to work harnessing and orchestrating the turbulence of the bleakly-strained wide screen sculptures of early career Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Towering stuff. - Losing Today

It's a testament to the band's musicianship and understanding of dynamics that their music can speak volumes without a single word being uttered... The potential that this band possesses is staggering. - PyroMusic

SMW sounds like what would happen if Jeff Buckley never sang on his records; full of emotion and featuring many different sections that somehow fuse together to make a perfect whole. - Who The Bloody Hell Are They?

This album is beauty in every sense of the word... No matter your taste in music, this release is well worth listening to. - Metal Obsession

Anyways, the songs are now up and we would be stoked if you could check them out.

Physical release and full downloads available soon!

Thanks heaps guys. All the best with your upcoming shows and of course, the split.

Impressive mix of subtle vegan parts and chunky meatlover sections to appeal to all.

Best of luck maybe we can work out a gig together sometime in the future

Zebulon Kosted

Jun 25 2009 5:43 PM

I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of purchase!!!
