Snakeosaurus Rex may attend some of the best universities in the country, but these minds aren't just made for dealing with school work. The band's members have been involved in musical groups since grade school. Balancing thought-provoking guitar work with supportive bass lines, the group weaves a melodic story with every song. Focused on writing quality songs and pumping through 8 hour practice sessions, the band has proven their strength and unity during the most stressful of times. Influenced by past failures and driven to write unique music, Snakeosaurus Rex is a breath of fresh air in a world of industry-designed, corporate controlled nonsense. Don't let their busy college schedules fool you...Snakeosaurus Rex is here to stay. Look for the new full-length album to be released in March of 2009.

" they love to make good music that is emotionally charged with inherited direction from Braid, The Promise Ring, and some old Mock Orange."
"Word on the street is that the boys are beginning to record their very first full length in December. If this little introduction is any indication of what is to come then you better take action and download this EP and get ready to make a Snakeosaurus Rex purchase when that full length comes out."
On top of having a pretty cool name they also have some pretty crunchy tunes. Their new LP "Rhino" feels well thought out, and although not leaving you on the edge of your seat it's a solid 9 songs. The main influence for this album's sound isn't subtle; the whole album has an early Minus the Bear feel about them (a good thing as the early MtB work is their best). However they also incorporate elements of bands like American Football and The Appleseed Cast.
As you would expect their songs are basically made up of two angular guitar lines, stopping and starting then eventually layering to create catchy and emotion filled choruses. The singing is also not very disimilar to MtB's Jake Snider but with somewhat more edge (seen in song "Paved with Gold Pt. 2"); nearly harmonious, emotion filled with stretched syllables. All this equates to create a strangely chilled out sound.
They do show some good variety throughout the album, tracks like "Snake Killer" being more upbeat, contrasted by the more soft and deep tones of "Vodka". Those who struggle to listen to MtB may find this album difficult to swallow, but I'd definitely recomend giving it a try anyway as its an impressive first album
