Combining some elements of hiphop and rock, Survival of the Fittest was formed due to the love of the two aforementioned genres of music. This is hardcore shit mixed with emceeing. This is the rawness of metal mixed with the bounce and groove of rap music. This is rock and roll with a hiphop soul.
The band debut in the Batangas underground music scene in early 2001 but the band was already formed earlier than that. It started with two friends who wanted to make music back in 1994, wishing that someday they could hit it big time. Little by little, they chose the right people to work with. The right people who had the same vision as them, that music shouldn't have any boundaries. People who would later become a family in every essence of the word.
With the line up complete, they took a step forward by making new materials that people can really relate to. Their topics don't stray from what ordinary people experience in their everyday lives. After almost a decade of making music and pushing the boundaries, SOF proves time and again that they are really the fittest in this game. This may sound like a boast to some of you peeps but ask around here, they'll tell you that one group stands above the rest and hailed as the kings of Batangas Hardcore: Survival of the Fittest.
SOF recorded a 5 song demo/EP "Here I Remain Standing" back in 2004. They currently just finished recording and mixing for their up and coming 8 song LP/full length debut also entitled "Here I Remain Standing" which will feature updated versions of the songs in the EP and 3 new songs for your hearing satisfaction. Both will be released through indie label Shurikenfist Entertainment.
SOF is rap/hiphop/hardcore/metal/rock/ska/reggae and everything in between. SOF is for everybody.
a message to all the haters:
Wether you like it or not, SOF is hardcore. The truth is, SOF is everything you want to hear. We are music for the people, by the people. Imagine how many people can relate with us through our songs and think of how many people can relate to you're bullshit. We are not in NY. We are not in Boston. We are not in Cali. You are not gangsta. You are living in the province of Batangas, of the Philippine Islands. What happens there, stays there. What happens here stays here. We sing about things that are happening here. Do not live on you're ideas. Don't get locked up by it. Take a look around. Ask around. Open your ears. We be doing what we are supposed to be doing for the scene. And still, people like you judge us because of our background? We've been hustling since day 1. We livin this hardcore shit. And still you tell us we're not hardcore? How about you? What have you done so far for the scene and the people in it? If you're definition of hardcore is not reaching out to others, fuck it then because we don't need shit like that. Label us anything you people want and then let's listen to what the whole community will say. They be tellin you that we the shit. We be the realest mo'f*ckers to ever come out of the hood.
Now that we coming out w/ the album, we want you to listen and think back to everything you said about us. While you grit your teeth and think of new ways to destroy us, we be laughin our ass out and see what a bunch of losers you all are.

SOF is on an indefinite hiatus now. We would like to thank everybody who had supported us, one way or another, all through out the 13 years that we had been playing together. But this does not mean that this is the end. If the opportunity comes, we will be back again. continue supporting our different endeavors (side projects, etc.) and continue supporting your local underground music scene.
