SOLANO JACOB é professor, escritor, músico e artista de grande influência no cenário do reggae nacional. Nascido em São Bernardo do Campo no final dos anos 70, há mais de dez anos vem atuando em todo o Brasil e inclusive no exterior no intuito de aliar a música à educação no processo de construção do espírito humano.
Uma característica que o ressalta, sem dúvida, é a originalidade e o conteúdo de suas composições de impacto na mente do jovem brasileiro:
"Alguns pensam que a vida é um rio que encontrará seu caminho, outros acham que é um sonho e caem na iniquidade", uma referência à famosa "Filhos Rebeldes", sucesso nacional contida no álbum "Palavra Viva".
Formado em bacharel e licenciado pelo Instituto de Ciências Biológicas da Universidade de São Paulo USP, Solano Jacob desde sua entrada na graduação já almejava se aprofundar na conexão entre o ramo educacional e o musical. A biologia é o estudo da vida, mas qual será o músico que lhe negará a dizer que música não é vida? Esta nova proposta musical, que chama a si própria para ser um veículo de emanação de vida, é certamente o foco de trabalho de SOLANO JACOB .
SOLANO JACOB é um artista diferenciado pela capacidade que possui em compor tanto em português quanto em inglês, o que amplia as possibilidades de intercâmbio entre culturas diferentes. Teve sua formação em língua inglesa através da Cultura Inglesa de São Paulo, onde estudou por mais de dez anos e obteve sua proficiência no idioma através de qualificações pelas universidades de Cambridge e Oxford.
Foi o idealizador e vocalista da banda paulista Leões de Israel por mais de seis anos, trabalho no qual lhe rendeu ascensão na carreira como cantor e compositor através de grandes sucessos como Filhos Rebeldes, Secou a Fonte, Ouça a Profecia, Me Gwann, Jah Jah Children e Treading Around the Land, bem como o lançamento de dois albuns intitulados - Pilares da Justica (2002) e Palavra Viva (2005), ambos com expressivas vendagens de 20.000 e 40.000 cópias respectivamente.
Na estrada, apresentou-se nas principais capitais brasileiras - Salvador em 2004, onde atuou e acompanhou Gregory Isaacs, renomado cantor Jamaicano, durante sua turnê pela América do Sul que incluiu cidades como Buenos Aires (Argentina), Fortaleza, Aracaju, Belém, São Luís e Recife.
SOLANO JACOB esteve presente no conceituado Circuito Reggae Paulista, projeto amplo que realizou inúmeros festivais de reggae em São Paulo e nas principais cidades da Grande São Paulo, como Osasco, Suzano, Carapicuíba, Guarulhos, Jundiaí, Vinhedo, Valinhos, Campinas e região. Em sua bagagem também não podemos deixar de mencionar sua participação conjunta em festivais com grandes nomes do reggae mundial como: Israel Vibration, Don Carlos, Midnite Band, Fullyfullwood Band, The Gladiators, Peter Broggs e Gregory Isaacs.
Em meados de 2005, SOLANO JACOB juntamente com os Leões de Israel foram convidados a representar o Brasil no maior festival de reggae jamaicano, o REBEL SALUTE FESTIVAL. Em meio às grandes lendas do reggae jamaicano como Burning Spear, Cocoa Tea, Third World, The Congos, Inner Circle, Luciano e muitas outras feras, Solano Jacob conseguiu aplausos e respeito por parte do povo jamaicano enquanto cantava uma de suas composições, Me Gwann.
Ao retornar da Jamaica em janeiro de 2006, SOLANO JACOB trouxe uma nova proposta de trabalho. Em carreira solo, após dois anos de preparação, traz em maio de 2008 um projeto inédito - "A Fé e a Razão". Uma comprovação de que a música e o ato de pensar são aliados em qualquer processo educativo, o trabalho é apresentado em duas partes complementares: o álbum contendo 12 faixas e o livro de mesmo título.

SOLANO JACOB is a composer, musician and artist of great influence in the Brazilian reggae scene. He was born in São Bernardo do Campo, an industrial city in the state of São Paulo at the end of the 70s. For more than 10 years up to the present, he has been performing all over Brazil and also outside playing music with quality, satisfaction and professionalism.
A characteristic that undoubtedly singles him out is the originality and the content of his compositions and the consequent impact on the youthful minds.
"Here I come again Jah Jah, restored forces and singing. I have got to give thanks always. Now I come to feed the hungry. Come to feed them with the Word, cause it was in the beginning, come to feed them with comprehension, with a lot of attention" - from "Here I come again", one of his new songs.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of São Paulo - USP and since entering college, always longed to deepen his connection between education and music. In one of his lectures, he mentioned: education is the construction of life, but which musician will deny telling you that music is not his life? Music is always linked with education. Education is a must, but we are not talking about information. Nobody can teach another person, indeed, each one of us can learn by our own efforts. Rasta does not teach methods or rules, but how to live through the discipline and the laws of the Almighty. What we can do is teach them how to learn.
SOLANO JACOB was the founder and leader of the Brazilian reggae band Lions of Israel for more than six years. This work allowed him to further his career as a singer and as a composer through great successes as Filhos Rebeldes, Secou a Fonte, Ouça a Profecia, Me Gwann, Jah Jah Children and Treading Around the Land. During this period he launched two albums entitled - Pilares da Justica (2002) and Palavra Viva (2005), both with expressive sales of 20.000 and 40.000 copies respectively.
He has performed in the main Brazilian capitals, including Salvador in 2004, where he acted and followed Gregory Isaacs as his lead guitarist during his tour in South America which included the following cities - Buenos Aires, Fortaleza, Aracaju, Belem, São Luís and Recife.
SOLANO JACOB also worked in the much praised São Paulo Reggae Circuit, a far reaching project that carried through innumerable reggae festivals in São Paulo and in the main cities of the Great São Paulo: Osasco, Suzano, Carapicuíba, Guarulhos, Jundiai, Vinhedo, Valinhos, and Campinas. In his career we cannot forget to mention his participation in festivals with great world-wide names of reggae such as: Israel Vibration, Don Carlos, Midnite Band, Fullyfullwood Band, The Gladiators, Peter Broggs, Alpha Blondy and Gregory Isaacs.
At the beginning of 2006, Solano Jacob and the Lions of Israel were all invited to represent Brazil in the Jamaican reggae festival called REBEL SALUTE FESTIVAL. With respect for the great Jamaican reggae legends including Burning Spear, Cocoa Tea, Third World, The Congos, Inner Circle, Luciano and many others, Solano Jacob obtained big applause and respect from the Jamaican people while singing "Me Gwann", one of his favorite songs. This performance can be found on the REBEL SALUTE 2006 VOL.3 DVD, now available all over the world.
When, SOLANO JACOB returned from Jamaica, he decided to follow a new purposal of work. After 2 years working hard, SOLANO JACOB released in may of 2008 his new project entitled "A Fé e a Razão" (Faith and Reason). A confirmation that music and thinking are partners in any kind of educational process, this work is presented in two complementary parts: the album containing 12 tracks and the book with the same title.
