Há muitos e muitos anos, numa galáxia distante, existia um estranho reino chamado Estados Unidos da América. Sua população vivia oprimida por um som chamado pop – previsível e artificial – que era empurrado ouvido adentro da massa, que mal conseguia contestá-lo.
Porém, no underground, forças rebeldes, formadas por músicos, produtores, MCs e DJs, lideradas por diversos cavaleiros Jedi, lutavam bravamente contra o domínio do pop. Entre esses cavaleiros, estava um brasileiro: Carlos Soul Slinger. E essa é a sua história...
Criador do festival de música e ecologia Ecosystem, que teve suas duas primeiras edições em Manaus, no coração da floresta amazônica, com o apoio do Greenpeace, Soul Slinger também plantou em seu próprio país a semente da fusão das batidas quebradas com os ritmos locais.
Por isso, não é de se estranhar que o disco tenha sons como Juriti e a inesquecível versão que SS fez para A Cidade, do saudoso Chico Science, lançada bem antes de DJs como Marky, Patife e XRS conquistarem o mundo com seu db verde e amarelo.

the true American Emperor of Drum and bass is still standing!
Frequently referred to as the Russel Simons of the electronic music scene,
Soul Slinger the true American electronic music mogul. For years he has been
a monumental figure of the past and present state of Electronic Music
Culture.Born and raized in Sao Paulo Brazil, Carlos Soul Slinger began his career in
the early 1980's. After many years, looking for new direction, Soul Slinger
decided to make the move to New York city. In 1989, Slinger opened what was
to be one of the most important icons of the American rave culture....
Liquid Sky. Liquid Sky is the original "rave emporium" in the United
States. A genious idea. Providing clothing, cosmetics, novelties, mix tapes
and Vinyl. The trend soon followed across the United States with many other
fundemental shops such as, Satellite Records, Break Beat Sciece, Dr Free
Clouds Mixing Lab, Pure Acid, and many others... A record label then
followed... Liquid Sky Music / Jungle Sky Records. Liquid Sky Music has
been responsible for some of the most forward-thinking music to emerge from
the New York City underground over the decades. In 1994, he released the
Jungle Liquid Sky / Ethiopia 12", being the first release on Jungle Sky
Records, and at that, the first American drum and bass production on vinyl.
Since then, he has released countless singles, and albums collaborating with
everyone from Afrika Bambaataa, Ali Khan, Elliot Sharp, Bill Laswell, Bernie
Worell (Funkadelic), Grand Master DST, Derek Bailey, William Burroughs,
Ziggy Marley, Dee Lite, Arto Lindsay, Buckethead, DJ Disk, DJ Spooky, Air
Liquide, Otto with Bebel Gilberto, Chico Science and Nacao Zumbi, Funk como
le gusta, BID ,Cyro Batista,,Suba, Mestre Ambrosio,The Swirlies,and others.
As Sonic Soul's Retina says in their July/August 1997 issue, "Few American
producers/DJ's/entrepreneurs have done more to help the cause of stateside
drum n' bass than NYC's Carlos Soul Slinger.".After many many years,
Soul Slinger finaly agreed to release a full - length album, Don't Believe,
a record of surprising diversity and genre-hopping.
Alternative Press called it "...a brave and frequently successful musical
statement that truly pushes the boundaries of popular music." When
interviewed for Paper magazine, Soul Slinger said, "Don't Believe is a
reference to everything we have believed in for the last couple of thousand
years. We have to do our best and keep hope and energy alive for the next
people who come. It's all just a wave of energy. Don't believe, just
exist!"
DJ Soul Slinger was the first so-called American drum and bass producer and DJ who was recognized by the UK Jungle community. In His first interaction overseas in the early 1990s at S.O.U.R-London pioneer jungle SOUR CREAM comp.cd, then he remixed Abducted (94),which became a classic with its remarkable bass line, and Ethiopia. He performed at Woodstock 94 at Saugerties(ravestock) and then next day, was at the original Woodstock 1969 site, the only DJ to perform ! In addition to Soul Slingers work as A&R of Liquid Sky, has released the work of We, DJ Wally aka Pish Posh, DJ I Cue, Yellow note, TC Izlam, Afrika Bambaataa, A Guy Called Gerald, DJ Olive ,187 , Drumagick,,Ramilson Maia ,Datcyde,Odi,,Dr.Walker,U.M.O,Khan,DJ Silver,DJ Ani,G-Man, Marshal H,Tube,DJ Beau, and many others.

Mr. Slinger in August 2000 create and help produce along GREENPEACE GUIDELINES a 4 day mega music human rights and ecology festival CALL ECOSYSTEM a really new concept to party Djs and producers from around the globe come together to cause awarness.
It is the first
non-profit electronic music festival environmentally sound to take place in
the Amazon Rainforest and one of the largest events in the world. The
Ecosystem project managed to bring together representatives from the
government, NGOs and artists in aid of a common goal. It shows that the
event embraces different sectors of society and that it is a real public
interest event as well as it's fun and cultural side, it has both content
and official endorsement. Through Soul Slinger's long-standing history as a
pioneer in the electronic music scene, he was able to enlist the help of top
notch DJs and producers around the globe, dedicated to creating awareness
for this unique event, the ecological concerns that currently exist in the
Amazon Rainforest and ultimately raise consciousness for every living as an
ecosystem,45,000 attend and was a huge success that change perceptions In the north brasilian society and all over Brasil. last years with the add of a brasilian skate pro Championship and the presence of top brazilian skaters and special guest mr.Bob Burnquist (American and world champion!).
