Soul Technique formed late 2007, through a mutual longing to bring something different to what had become an indie dominant music scene in Newcastle upon Tyne. It was time to shake things up! Their first gig was in March 2008 - a Battle of the Bands competition to win a place to perform at Newcastle’s Green Gathering Festival that summer. The band went on to win this against stiff competition from the region’s finest, and played the Green Gathering in August 2008, to one of the biggest crowds of the festival. Since then, Soul Technique have been relentlessly gigging the local circuit in the North East, attempting to spread their chunky, bass driven pop to every corner.
October 2009 saw Soul Technique go into the studio for the first time to record ‘The Move with Me EP’. This contains the unadulterated disco of title track ‘Move with Me’, the pop funk of track ‘Ugly’, and the heavy ‘I’ve Been Here Before’. 2010 looks set to be the band’s year, with the EP due for release in March 2010, followed by gigs and festivals around the country.
