SUMMER 2009, SBS DEBUTES A NEW HIFI SHOWROOM IN ASIA,
Summer of 09 SBS Returns to Asia. SBS will debut a State of the Art Sound System on the Next Level.
This new system will be our 2nd HIFI Analog Sound system/Showroom that will be built Shipped and installed in Asia within 3 years. It will be Powered from Top to Bottom by Thrive Audio Amplification & like all of Our HIFI showrooms, this Analog sound system will feature T.A.D HIFI components in State Of The Art custom designed SBS Horn Loaded enclosures.. COMMENT - Paul the owners opinion on the SBS S3X 3 WAY XOVER, system upgrade:
Before Shorty even retuned the system,, just by putting in his new S3X 3 way xover into the system This S3X xover made a huge difference.
After he retuned the system and dialed it in, it just sounds bigger, more detailed than ever, and now CD sounds unreal, and vinyl sounds more amazing than what it was!

After 2 weeks of listening, here is our thoughts about Shorty's S3X xover and his retuning of the system @ Lotus.
The system now sounds tight, great clarity, all frequencies are well balanced, and it has that big room sounding. I think it's the S3X that make the system sounds so great.
There are regulars literally noticed when they walk into the room! With S3X, now we don't push the urei mixer as hard as before, and for some odd reason, the booth monitor doesn't need to as loud as before, so now djs can hear the floor better!
When we first brought Shorty down, we thought it would just sounds a bit better, but that's not the case...it's almost like a brand new system!
Shoty is still as passionate and knowledgeable as when I first met him. His work is surely top quality.

In 2005, Club Systems International Magazine nominated Stereo in Montreal, for the ìNight Stalker Awardî which is equivalent to the peoples choice award, which is judged by on line voting for its SBS Sound System.
In 2004, for the 1st time ever SBS - Systems By Shorty was nominated for his Analog sound system for The Club World Award @ Club Stereo in Montreal Canada for the World,s Best Sound System . This award is also known as the Disco Globes Award, the most prestigious award to be presented to any nightclub or sound company by a industry trade magazine: Club Systems International.
Introduction of SBS:
SBS - Systems By Shorty was founded in 2001 with the intentions of bringing high quality audio, vision, and innovation back to the pro audio industry. Craig “ Shorty” Bernabeu has been in the audio industry since 1985. He has an extensive career and much work experience on some of the finest sound systems ever available to nightclubs such as legendary nightclub: Club Zanzibar in Newark, NJ housing one of the best Richard Long Sound Systems.
In late 1995, Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, was hired to work with Steve Dash and Phil Smith of Phazon for 6 years at world- renowned nightclub Twilo, NYC as the head sound technician.At Twilo he worked with resident DJ JR Vasquez, and other world famous DJs such as: Sasha & Digweed, Paul VanDyk, Carl Cox just to mention a few. .
In 2001, SBS started handling SBNY Splash Bar NYC, on a major renovation of their sound system, that to this day has been a on going project to reinvent and always upgrade there Custom Analog SBS sound system, that has gotten praise world wide by all the Major DJs.
In 2009 SBS & SBNY was Nominated for, Best Sound System category in Club world Magazine, Formally Club Systems International Magazine. This is the 5th Nomination SBS has received for Best sound system.
In late 2001, Legendary DJ Producer David Morales of Def Mix Productions, Becomes a Client for SBS
In February of 2003, David Morales hires Craig “Soundman Shorty” Bernabeu of SBS – Systems By Shorty, as the head sound engineer, to redesign, Re-engineer, build and install a new custom analog HiFI playback sound system for Club Stereo in Montreal, Canada which gave SBS world wide recognition as the leader in pro audio .
In Late 2003, He Starts to engineer and Design his 1st piece of electronics with new company Thrive Audio, This 5 way Isolator is A Vacuum Tube unit that is featuered in all his sound systems across the Globe & is the 1st of its kind. In 2003 he & his Partners start a new company called Thrive Audio. Thrive Audio offers very High end Amplifiers, Processors and a variety of products. His Thrive Audio Isolator has gotten acclaim from djs world wide.
In 2004, SBS - Systems By Shorty, was nominated for The Club World Award for World’s Best Sound System for his sound system in Club Stereo. In 2006, SBS was contracted to update and upgrade the sound system & DJ Booth Monitors & Console @ Palladium in Acapulco, Mexico
Mid 2006, Legendary Producer Remixer Shep Pettibone, Hired and contracted SBS to re engineer and Upgrade his current Digital sound system, to a custom Designed SBS Analog sound system
In late 2006, SBS was contracted to custom build a HIFI Analog Sound system for Lotus Sound Bar in Honolulu Hawaii, this one of a kind hand made sound system has been getting praise from djs internationally and throughout Asia. SBS Design Philosopy and Theories:
SBS is a sound company that believes in the absolute highest quality Audio first, the first time out. Our theories are that we offer the best quality product period, with the best built quality that will produce the best sonic fidelity.
At SBS we hand build all of our speaker boxes and sound systems custom tailored around each and every room with no two sound systems exactly the same. SBS sound systems will produce the ultimate sonic fidelity and perform well beyond your expectations, They will be extremely rugged and will perform at 100% each and every night of operation.
SBS uses the absolute best quality wood and load our custom speaker boxes with the finest drivers available namely T.A.D audio components with all our top flight systems. We do offer and engineer other drivers with our custom boxes and sound systems for every budget, for any potential client that wants and has to have a System By Shorty.
For clients with smaller budgets in mind, we do use some off the shelf speaker boxes.
Processing: SBS uses Bryston & Marchand custom Analog x-overs for each job, these units are custom built and designed around each and every room that we engineer and design. SBS works direct with the engineers at Bryston & Marchand in the design of these x-overs, we do this at the design phase of the install with all our own custom x-over slopes and frequencies.
SBS features in all our HIFI sound systems, custom designed processing that is designed by Craig “soundman shorty” Bernabeu. These custom processors will elevate our systems frequency response from as low as 5 hz to over 110Khz, which gives our sound systems the widest frequency response in the industry, these processors also allow the djs to manipulate and control the system that will elevate the excitment of the the crowd at the club that evening without harming any of the equipment in the sound system.
Amps: SBS uses the finest amplifiers available on the market, Namely Bryston (with a 20 year warrenty), Crown, Thrive Audio, Mark Levinson, Krell, Mcintosh. We chose these brands because of their sonic fidelity, Performance & Reliability. These amplifiers are work horses and sound amazing.
The engineering: Any sound system engineered and purchased from SBS - Systems By Shorty is totally unique, that is a state of the art sound system that is totally innovative, very rugged, and light years ahead of any other sound system that has ever been engineered by any sound company in any nightclub to date.
Sonic description: A sound system that has a very exciting sound that is very smooth and very transparent with imaging and depth so vivid you can “see” into the actual sound track. You’re going to hear every inner detail of the music the way the producer intended it to be heard and will playback any style of music in a Flawless manor.
@ SBS we use the highest quality products in each and every budget. With this approach in the design phase, it makes our sound systems the most flexible on the market, & will not be a fatiguing sound after long hours of play at high SPL like with most systems of today in nightclubs.
In fact as loud as our sound systems play back audio, your club patrons can still easily hold a conversation on the dance floor without raising their voice to their partner. So your club patrons will not leave your club with their ears ringing, like in other clubs.
