Dann Hoyos was born on the April 19th, 1982, in Bilbao, Spain. As a child he appeared to have an innate ability with the arts, and music in particular. In his musical beginnings Dann often used to play in little places with nothing but an acoustic guitar, singing and finding his first acknowledgment while playing with local bands such as Deyde or Loriensky.
While studying with Robert R. Rodrigo (Airless) Dann found the inspiration that he needed as a solo guitar player, and began developing his finger picking and tapping style in the rock idiom.Those techniques would be strongly improved when he attended the Freak Guitar Camp with Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen) in Sweden.
Dann soon found his place in Spain’s musical environment with Beforce, a Heavy Metal band with the diverse musical influences. Beforce toured heavily after the release of their first album, “Creation” (Goi Music, 2005). The band was also invited to play at the Alessandria Open Wave Festival in Italy.
Dann then moved to Barcelona to study music at “L'Aula of the Liceu,” an ideal situation to meet musicians with whom he would begin to create and compose his first solo project. With his mind opened, and the motivation of being awarded a scholarship from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, he decided to record his first album. Space Octopus was recorded at The Rockstudios (with Carlos Creator from Mystic Game as Producer) and in collaboration with 666 Studios. For the public presentation of the album Dann traveled to Spain to perform at the Bilborock venue as headliner of the Sanctuary Festival.
At Berklee College of Music Dann was awarded the World Tour Scholarship and the Harris Stanton Award from the Professional Performance Division. Dann was also selected as one of the Berklee’s exemplary guitarists in the Pop/Rock idiom, and invited to play at Guitar Night 2007, in the Berklee Performance Center, as well as the New Music Festival, in 2008 at the same venue.
Dann has enjoyed working with Neara Russell (www.neararussell.com), Nili Brosh and Federico Jankilevich, and performing with artists such as Angel Alonso (No Apto) or Mick White.
After this experience in Boston and finishing his Bachelor at Berklee with "Cum Laude" honors Dann moved to Los Angeles where joined many different bands such as The Logan (Hardcore) with whom recorded his last acoustic album and played all over Los Angeles and at Liskfest Festival, Tarsha (ex-Adler’s Appetite), Thirty Round Clip, James Delisco (winner of “The Entertainer” 2005) with whom playes regularly in Las Vegas and in China for three and a half months.
Apart from his work with these bands Dann was hired as one of the first guitar players to teach at the new Guitar Center Studios.
Nowadays Dann is finishing the new Space Octopus album that will be in both Spanish and English formats. Recorded in Boston at LP Sound Studios with Lewis Pickett as engineer and mixed at of 666 Studios, with the incredible dedication of Angel Rodrigez and Urtzi Barceló the album has 11 tracks and it’s influenced by many styles making it sound unique and destined to be the first entrance from the universe of sound that soon will come straight to your mind.

Dann Hoyos nace en Bilbao el 19 de Abril de 1982. Desde niño demostro tener una facilidad innata para el arte y la musica en particular. Durante sus inciertos comienzos Dann acostumbra a tocar en pequeños locales de modo acústico, logrando sus primer reconocimientos y a su vez comienza a tocar con bandas como Deyde o Loriensky con los que se ira definiendo más musicalmente.
Estudiando con Robert R. Rodrigo (Airless) encontrará la inspiración que necesita como solista, desarrollando su técnica de finger-picking y tapping, en el
lenguaje del rock. Su instrucción e inspiración dan un gran salto al asistir al Freak Guitar Camp con Mattias IA Eklundh (Freak Kitchen) en Suecia.
Su mayor trascendencia en el mundo musical la encontrará en Beforce (banda de
power metal, dando numerosos conciertos por todo el territorio nacional y con incursiones en el extranjero, donde recibe reconocidas criticas, especialmente tras la edición de su primer álbum: “Creation” (Goi Music, 2005).
Se traslada a Barcelona para estudiar en L..Aula de Música del Liceo, y allí contactará con diversos músicos con los que irá construyendo su proyecto: SPACE OCTOPUS. Con las ideas frescas y la motivación de ser becado para la prestigiosa Universidad de Música Moderna de BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC (Boston, Massachusetts) se decide a plasmar su música en el álbum. Grabado en THE ROCKSTUDIOS (producido por Carlos Creator) en colaboración con 666 STUDIOS el disco “DANN HOYOS – SPACE OCTOPUS” sale a la luz.
Para la presentación pública del álbum Dann viajó desde Boston a España para actuar en la sala Bilborock como cabeza de cartel en el “Sanctuary Festival 2007”, donde
contó con la colaboración del reconocido productor musical Carlos Creador (Mystic Game) y Robert Rodrigo (Airless). Dicho evento fue cubierto por diversos medios de comunicación como televisión y prensa.
En Berklee, Dann ha realizado estudios con David Fiuczinski (Screamming Headless Torsos), Tim Miller, Don Lappin, Charles Hansen, Mark White, Arnold Friedman… y una larga lista de profesionales que han reconocido a Dann como un nuevo talento expresándolo en el reconocimiento “Harris Stanton Award” de la división profesional de performance, sumándose asi al “World Scholarship” con el que ya contaba.
A este meritorio honor se le sumó el ser seleccionado como uno de los mejores
guitarristas de rock de Berklee actuando como plato fuerte en el “Guitar Night
2007”, en el “Berklee Performance Center” en Boston, Massachusetts, asi como en el "New Music Festival", en el mismo teatro, en 2008.
Dann ha sido requerido para realizar sesiones de grabacion con Neara Russell
(www.neararussell.com), Nili Brosh y Federico Jankilevich, y para realizar
performances con artistas como Angel Alonso (No Apto), Mick White... etc.
Después de graduarse "Cum Laude" en Berklee Dann se traslada a Los Angeles donde entrara en diferentes bandas como The Logan (Hardcore) con quienes graba su ultimo disco acústico y toca por todo Los Angeles y en el Liskfest Festival, Tarsha (ex- Adler's Appetite), Thirty Round Clip o James Delisco (ganador de "The Entertainer" 2005) con quien toca en Las vegas regularmente y en China durante tres meses y medio.
Aparte de su trabajo con estas bandas Dann es recrutado como uno de los primeros guitarristas para enseñar en los nuevos Guitar Center Studios.
Actualmente Dann está trabajando en un nuevo disco de Space Octopus que se llamará "The Silence" y tendra su version en castellano, en el que Dann canta todas las canciones. Grabado en LP Studios en Boston, con Lewis Pickett como ingeniero; Mezclado en 666 Estudios en España con la increible dedicación de Angel Rodriguez y Urtzi Barceló, el álbum tiene 11 temas y múltiples influencias haciéndolo único y dirigido a ser la entrada al universo de sonido que pronto irá directo a tu mente.
