After buying and selling vintage furniture and vintage clothes in Seattle and the great northwest for over ten years I ended up with a warehouse full of furniture and interesting items from the Mid-Century. So, I opened up my own store about four years ago. I did bussiness with many local venders and dealers and talked with alot of vintage enthusiasts and found my niche. I found that alot of people were fed up and tired with overpriced vintage and designer name obsession. Anyone can buy a book and memorize a few names and act like a funiture snob. I like vintage furniture because I like the way it looks and feels and the soul it has collected in its life of over several decades. If you like it and it works in your home then that is what is important. Is it comfortable? I like the quality of materials no longer found it todays new furniture market. I like no-name knock offs designed by two bit designers in obscure factories forgotten by time and overlooked by text books. I carry the designer stuff too but it is by no means my focus. My store is about being down to earth and being affordable to anyone. Space Oddity tries to create a comfortable atmosphere where people can relax and have fun experimenting with ideas and being creative with their home design choices.
