Biography
2002:
Saligia meets Lord Astaroth (guitar) with which form the Infernal Tenebris. Count Decameron and Agares (keyboard) consoscentis of Saligia already enter to belong to the project together and subsequently to Lord of Pestilence (how bass player) from a little known by Lord Astaroth.
2003:
they begin the first tests and they are born the first pieces. After various tests, to the voice Lord passes of Pestilence. First strong tensions between the group and Lord Astaroth that they flow in the last hunting party. After some test with other guitarists it passes to the solo guitar Lord of Pestilence.
2004:
it enters to make part Nurthur in the dresses of bass player which it gives, new thickness to the music and new ideas to the group, over that to a discovery enthusiasm, is begun to treat the matter for the first album: "the Black Plague in Italy" from this theme the name of the group is also born, that finally becomes Speculum Mortis. Thanks also to Nik keyboard player and friend of Lord of Pestilence and great expert of medieval history are born ideas on the realization of the passages both to musical level that lyric through the study deepened of the period; in fact the medieval imprint in the music starts to make evident detaching the group from what was the 2 year-old initial project before..There is less and less besides space for Agares and his interpretation in the undertaken run. For which its behaviors induce then the group to fall to pieces of him. The parts of keyboard will be submitted to Nik which gathers the essence of the group, creating over the intro, the music that accompagnia the "Vado Mori "the, key piece of the album. They are born besides in this period Speculum Verae Penitence, Macabre Triumph, Livor Mortis and St. Leonardo Fossamala.
2005
First exits live for the group that has started to work to two new pieces since March: Speculum Mortis and Pogrom. The group also starts to stir to promotional level through the publication of sites internet and this door to the contact with the Ukraina Griffin Music. In the first days of July the band is closed in the Conquest Studio of Gallarate where it records debut 1348 with Alex "the king" Party already manufacturing of jobs of Doomsword, Winespirit,.. The group ago therefore to go out the album in limited version numbered of 120 copies for the Vomitarcanus prod and in the meantime grants him with the Griffin music for the molding, promotion and distribution to international level of 1000 copies of the album. In the second part of the year the group immediately puts on to the job for the succession of 1348: a new concept on the family Borgia.
2006
To beginning year the intense activity live brings the group to play fest to the Hellblast and to Transylvania live in Milan. Set aside then the projects live, the band it puts again him to the job on the preparation of the new project that starts to take shape.

2002:
Saligia incontra Lord Astaroth (chitarra) con il quale forma gli Infernal Tenebris. Count Decameron e Agares (tastiera) già consoscenti di Saligia entrano a far parte del progetto insieme e successivamente a Lord of Pestilence (come bassista) da poco conosciuto da Lord Astaroth.
2003:
iniziano le prime prove e nascono i primi pezzi. Dopo varie prove, alla voce passa Lord of Pestilence. Prime forti tensioni tra il gruppo e Lord Astaroth che sfociano nella cacciata dell’ultimo. Dopo qualche prova con altri chitarristi passa alla chitarra solista Lord of Pestilence.
2004:
entra a far parte Nurthur nelle vesti di bassista il quale dà, nuovo spessore alla musica e nuove idee al gruppo, oltre che a un ritrovato entusiasmo,si inizia a trattare l’argomento per il primo album: “la Peste Nera in Italia” da questo tema nasce anche il nome del gruppo,che finalmente diventa Speculum Mortis.
Grazie anche a Nik tastierista e amico di Lord of Pestilence e grande conoscitore di storia medievale nascono idee sulla realizzazione dei brani sia a livello musicale che lirico attraverso lo studio approfondito del periodo; difatti l’impronta medievale nella musica comincia a farsi evidente distaccando il gruppo da quello che era il progetto iniziale di 2 anni prima..Inoltre c’è sempre meno spazio per Agares ed la sua interpretazione nel percorso intrapreso. Per cui i suoi comportamenti inducono poi il gruppo a disfarsi di lui. Le parti di tastiera verranno affidate a Nik il quale coglie l’essenza del gruppo, creando oltre l’intro, la musica che accompagnia il “Vado Mor”i, pezzo chiave dell’album. Nascono inoltre in questo periodo Speculum Verae Penitenza, Macabre Triumph, Livor Mortis e San Leonardo Fossamala.
2005
Prime uscite live per il gruppo che da Marzo comincia a lavorare a due nuovi pezzi: Speculum Mortis e Pogrom. Il gruppo comincia anche a muoversi a livello promozionale attraverso la pubblicazione di siti internet e questo porta al contatto con l’Ukraina Griffin Music. Nei primi giorni di Luglio la band si chiude nei Conquest Studio di Gallarate dove registra debut 1348 con Alex “the king” Festa già produttore di lavori di Doomsword, Winespirit, …. Il gruppo fa quindi uscire l’album in versione limitata numerata di 120 copie per la Vomitarcanus prod e nel frattempo si accorda con la Griffin music per lo stampaggio, promozione e distribuzione a livello internazionale di 1000 copie dell’album.
Nella seconda parte dell’anno il gruppo si mette subito al lavoro per il seguito di 1348: un nuovo concept sulla famiglia Borgia.
2006
A inizio anno l’intensa attività live porta il gruppo a suonare all’Hellblast fest e al Transilvania live di Milano. Accantonati poi i progetti live, la band si rimette al lavoro sulla preparazione del nuovo progetto che comincia a prendere corpo.

La band di David Johansen intraprenderà questo mese un 'last minute' tour europeo, che li vedrà suonare in alcune date insieme a Sex Pistols e Morrissey... Il concerto potrà essere visto solamente da 300 fortunati (il club purtroppo non ne contiene di più), quindi affrettatevi a prenotare il biglietto.
