At three years old and just two feet tall, Sam stretched up to reach the conga drums to bang them. “What I do professionally is no surprise to me,” he explains. When I look back at my childhood, I remember incessantly tapping percussive rhythms on my school desk, the dinner table, or the headrest of the front seat of the car.” Spifnoof began writing songs on piano at age 9. At age 12, he was performing semi-professionally with his band. For over a decade now, he has successfully produced music from nearly every known musical genre, from Pop and World music to Jazz and Latin.
His talents as a composer and instrumentalist are impressive and his multicultural background provides international diversity to his work and a respect for different cultures and their musical traditions which transcends his music. In addition, Sam's unique ability to communicate the essence of music’s universal language allows him to draw from artists what it is that he desires for his music: a raw, natural feel. Being a huge record fan and collector, he was more interested in the writers, producers, engineers and people behind the scenes as opposed to whose picture was on the covers. He was determined to dissect the sounds of great records to find out what made them tick. Realizing the studio was an environment more conducive to creative discovery than any bar or hotel he had played, Sam went full speed into with plans to make recording his vocation.
In 2000, Sam moved across the Atlantic Ocean to Sacramento, CA and established Spifnoof Music Productions. The emphasis for the company was to have its own A&R staff with trusted ears and vision focused on finding and developing emerging artists. Acknowledging that record labels were no longer in the business of development and less supportive of artists wanting to have creative control of their own music, he created the label as a place to make finished records that artists could be proud of and establish long lasting careers with. Spifnoof recently completed the score to "l'affaire dunant" the documentary produced by Nologo Factory.
Now settled in Los Angeles, CA, his recording studio encompasses and represents his core beliefs: high quality, passion, honesty. It provides a comfortable environment for artists to freely express their creativity using today's state of the art recording and mixing equipment.

Influences
I am wondering how to make this at all interesting and tell you about myself at the same time.
Hi.
You might be please to know that I am not every guy ever. I don't read gossip magazines or websites (I have a hard time caring about Beckham's wife's new haircut or how many babies Angelina Jolie is accessorizing herself with nowdays). I avoid and/or ignore any source of drama that could potentially enter my life and am therefore labeled easygoing. I hate living in a routine, so I generally welcome spontaneity.
Hmmm...
I sing in the shower. And while walking down the street. I read French poetry and I enjoy photography, even though my camera sucks. I always chew on the end of my pen. I give money to the SDFs and buskers who play in the metros, even though all my French friends lecture me on why I shouldn't. I highly enjoy drinking coffee out of bowls and nothing beats warm baguettes, mushroom soup, or Asian cuisine. My philosophy on life is that too much time is wasted worrying about making the "right" decisions. My life is about constantly jumping off cliffs. Finding someone who doesn't mind jumping with me might be a fun time.
Bottom line:
No expectations, just bored and ready to break out of routine. Let's hang out.
