Spiral69 is Riccardo Sabetti’s solo project, former founder of the band Pixel, and bassist/guitarist
of the historical dark-wave group Argine for several years, which now leaves its dark and industrial recent past to soften in a more melodic and gothic rock.
It was during a tour of the Argine, that travelling through Europe in Sabetti’s and mates van, has became an exhausting session of composition, creating an amazing alchemy between a guitar, a violin and a piano.
Day by day, Sabetti arranged and enriched the canvas of what will be his album,
capturing lyrical ideas in English, visceral melodies, finally clear synchronies between his inner being, his vision of human relations and that neo-romantic fluid that always runs through his musical vein.
The result is “ A Filthy Lesson for Lovers”, a dark album, in English, filled with echoes and recalls to historical bands such as Joy Division, The Cure, NIN, Nick Cave and Beatles, a fusion of Dark, New Wave and Pop which meets with the American folk song of Dylan and Johnny Cash’s country.
Eleven tracks full of naked corporality, eleven dirty lessons of love, in which nothing else is
taught but the cruel evidence of human relations.
Love and hate, the good and the evil, cease to be treated like the great archetypes of human existence and are now mixed and contiguous, such as different shades of the same emotion.
There are several outstanding artistic contributions, both within the album as in live performance,
such as Marco Manusso (guitarist, arranger for artists like De Gregori and Dalla), Andrea Ruggiero (violinist for Giorgio Canali, Legittimo Brigantaggio), Edo Notarloberti (violinist for Argine and Ashram), Stefano Ratchev (‘cellist for Morricone’s orchestra) and Emanuele Colella (Mind Key’s guitarist).
