“I'll Be Around is an affirmation of the band's 14-year journey
and the scars its gas-tank bass and three surviving
members have accumulated.” -Richard Gintowt (Pitch Weekly)
"Slap your knee to these guys and you'll be sore the next day." -
New York Press
A band of badasses with the avowed intent of kicking the oldtime sound
in the posterior till it shouts out a brand new tune.CMJ New
Music Report
"The fearsome foursome of Split Lip combines a traditional bluegrass
sound with the blazing speed and energy of punk rock, and in the process
manages to improve on the formula. Should have Seen it Coming is
quite possibly the best recorded document of its myriad skills and
charm." - Tucson Weekly
Man am I glad I caught the show at the Bluebird cuz I don't remember any of the set you did at the Blacksheep on the 18th. But that's what birthdays are for, right? My buddy picked up the DVD as a present for me as well. It's GREAT! See you guys next time
It was nice meeting ya'll in Atlanta last night...your set was phenomenal! And I gave my new cd a good breakin-in on the way back home today. Good stuff. :) Have happy safe travels back home...
Hey, strings band fans, check out The Blue Ribbon Healers on youtube. We got friends and family in the Wichita area and if you think our band would be appreciated please let us know. We've been workin for a long time to get ourselves on the side of the curb, and in May we're openning a Sam Bush festival. Our style is a tricked out oldtime NewOrleans jazz sound.
The best Christmas present I got this year was finding out that you guys are going to be in VA in February! I've been waiting YEARS for you guys to head our way! See ya in Charlottesville (and probably Charlotte, NC too).
the denver show was amazing. everytime i see you boys it is like being home. i still remember really listening to you for the first time playing in the street in front of the spartan on main street in good old newton. you changed my mind about music that night. that show kills me seeing dillions semitrucks and cars cruise by . yep good memories. and your music will always bring tears and good memories. your music is home to me. star bisuits and gravy.
Hey. How are ya? My friend and I are raising money to bring musical instruments and art supplies to places in need around the world. I'm going to put on a benefit event and auction in May to raise awareness and donations of instruments/supplies and money for shipping. If you feel called to help in anyway (by donating items to the auction, performing, giving a percentage of your proceeds from a show, attending this special Earth Day event in Iowa, asking friends and family for donations of supplies or money, going to Tanzania, South Africa, or Dominican Republic to deliver/teach...) please think about it and let me know. thanks for putting this on your heart and on the hearts of your coworkers, neighbors, and strangers. a single snowflake is quiet and weak, but we've all seen the power of hundreds of snowflakes that come together to make a storm. help us make a storm.
Hey guys!!! Cannot wait to see you on the 26th in Wichita! I'm bringing my 17 yr old daughter to the show...her first SLR/bluegrass show EVER! She's convinced she won't like it, but i KNOW better. I'm gettting her down front and we are gonna rock it - SLR style...mother and daughter!
I'm also going to be at the NYE show in Lawrence!! I imagine we are going to have a great time kicking 2009 in the ASS and bringing in 2010 with dancing and smiles and laughs and SPLIT LIP RAYFIELD as the soundtrack to that very moment. I couldn't imagine anything better. I'm truly blessed.
