"Spoolwork." Is that even a word? It popped into my head one day and I wasn't sure what it meant, if anything, but I liked the way it sounded so I wrote it down in the little notebook I carry around in my back pocket. Later, I looked it up in a dictionary and didn't find anything, but then I Googled it and got back a handful of results. It turns out it's an obscure word for a certain kind of architectural detail. It took a minute, but then I realized it was a perfect name for this new remix and production project- I'm adding details and flourishes and sonic decorations to structures that others have already built. So yes- Spoolwork. I've put out three solo albums under my own name, Dave Fischoff, on Secretly Canadian Records, but with Spoolwork I'd like to try my hand at something more collaborative, to see how my musical ideas will mesh with others'. So if you're an artist looking to have a song remixed, or if you're looking for someone to provide an arrangement or a beat for one of your tunes, feel free to drop me a line through this Myspace page or at spoolwork[at]gmail[dot]com. And if you'd like to hear some examples of what I've done with my own songs, I've got the latest Dave Fischoff album streaming right over here:
