Ok, campers, it's time for everyone to jump into action!
Show NBC Universal Sci Fi Channel that you will take a stand and contact the executives that cancelled the show. Also unfortunately they put a clause that Stargate SG1 can't create and show further newly created episodes on any other American channel. But this may not apply to non-US channels, such as BBC, VirginMediaTV, Space Channel, and ITV. So contact them and give them the good word about Stargate!
These same two SciFi channel executives are also the ones that put wrestling on the 'science fiction' channel. What's next, Hockey on the FOOD channel? And they are now dumping your favorite shows for cheaper reality game shows, with just a camera crew that follows some people around, those without dramatic scripts, or actors, and they are now balking at the price of higher quality, when in actuality they put over 13-16 minutes of commercials into every SG-1 show when you're watching it. MGM earns back the cost of the show via sales of the DVD (no ads interrupting you). TV network only pay a licensing fee, not the full production cost, and earn their money back by advertisers paying them to air their tv commercials. Keep in mind, that a DVD sale is a 1-time thing. But the TV channel can keep earning more and more money each time they continue to air the same episode over and over again, and continue to reap income from it via more ad sales. So they can earn money off of it not just on its premiere broadcast, but for years. Shows like Stargate continue to earn. Because viewers keep tuning in even to watch the story over again. Reality GameShows, although cheap, usually can't do this because once the game is up, the thing aired, and everyone knows the winner, not many are interested in watching the entire 20 episode contest over again. For example, even though something like American Idol gets HUGE nielsen ratings, how many people want to watch season 2 of it or Justin meets Kelly all over again. However check TVLAND and you'll see dramas that are STILL being re-played and enjoyed even 50 years later. This is why when someone goes on the cheap, instead of maintaining quality, you have the expression you get what you pay for.
When our high quality SG1 show is cancelled. You can guess of course that Atlantis will be cancelled too, later. With no SGC, where will Atlantis gate to? No SGC. And they will cancel your Battlestar Galactica after that too, just because the ratings of BSG have gone down a little bit. (UPDATE: BSG is now CANCELLED. As predicted.) That's not right of these execs to do to loyal fans and you viewers. And after they have their way, you will be left with nothing but B-movies and WRESTLING.
Scifi channel itself creates Horrible cheesy shows like FrankenFish, and the low quality B-movies. Look at the list of SciFi channel originals: Man-Squito? Sasquatch? Boa versus a Python? Pumpkinhead: Love Hurts, Man-Thing, A wooly Mammoth that is also a vampire? What the...? This is what you will be left with to watch on NBC/Scifi channel after SG1 is gone. That, and a donut eating superhero reality game-show.
There is now a world wide BOYCOTT against all Advertisers on NBC Universal Scifi Channel. No one is buying the products in the TV Commercials shown on SciFi channel. Email everyone you know. Tell them, hey, did you hear about STARGATE? And team up with them and get involved. It is time for everyone to mobilize into ACTION!
