Cowboy ethics, astronaut love songs, gypsy integers, driving at night, dancing barefoot. The ghosts of trains in minor chords.
Hearts, whiskey, peppers, sky, & soul.

"Starhead is an interesting band featuring the excellent Tamara Cauble (Polyphonic Spree, Telegraph Canyon) on violin along with various other veteran Denton players backing up singer Ira Wile with eerie, hushed rock that reminds me of Cowboy Junkies or Knife in the Water." - The Dallas Observer
"...spooky." - Hank III
"there's a lovely stark feeling to it, like a small group playing in the desert at dusk, a hundred miles from civilization. Spare, expert execution on a lone horn, lead and rhythm acoustic guitars, bass and a solo vocal. Gypsy music meets grunge? Beautiful stuff." - MuzicHunter, at mp34u.muzic.com
"This shit is like taking Nick Cave, Siouxie and The Afghan Whigs, putting them in a blender and colouring them in sepia. This is great." - Rylah, of The Fainting Generals
"...pretty good. kinda goth-folk with 90’s vocals. cool instrumentation..." - Grady Don of RTB2
"Half their songs are like lying in bed in a tiny dusty town missing your lover. The other half are like the day you get up and decide to do something about it." - Cat Hicks, Girl
Starhead is a spooky little y'all-ternative Ouvre-Fi folk-rock band headed by singer/songwriter Ira Wile, first formed at the end of winter, 2008.
Starhead membership has been proven to be subtly elastic, however.
While Starhead performances and recordings usually featured a core set of rhythm musicians and a certain emotional continuity throughout, various 'guest' appearances sometimes result in stylistic changes...
The band's name was originally drawn from the name of an album by another local band ( jetscreamer), the origins from there, according to Will Kapinos (of jetscreamer), are best left uncovered . Mr Kapinos will forever drink on our tab wherever we may play.
Starhead released a debut album, titled 'Escadrille', produced by Brent Best ( Slobberbone, The Drams, The Murder Virgins) in February of 2009, almost a year to the date fromthe penning of the first song.
On sale locally at Recycled Books in Denton, and available for sale as an online download at wowsignaltx.com.
Please check out the Morgantown, WV band 63 Eyes for the original version of '9th Grade Child' as well.
And Jetscreamer. Go check those cats out. Amazing.

"Before gas tractors plowed the fields, steam traction engines ruled the prairie. Now, the glory days of steam farming live on through the words of the men and women who experienced them firsthand. These 12 poems, originally submitted to the steam engine enthusiast magazine Iron Men Album back in the 1950s, have been unearthed and set to original music by Christian Williams. Enjoy this glimpse of a little-known chapter of American history."
