Things about the StarSludge web manager Cal- Everything hurts....I joined the Theatre and I'm in 'Funny Money' for 10 minutes at Brisbane Arts in December and I'll do behind the scene thingys......I'm in a shed packing boxes wondering what possessed Captain Cook to go mad and discover Australia cos it's ridiculously hot...I have the loudest sigh ever.....My roof is a major possum highway...the bats are cool....I can step off a plane in England and be completely at home.....I see a lot of wrestling matches....I'm listening to Metric and not much else.......first album I ever bought was Wierd Al Yankovic and I was brought up on a diet of Val Doonican and The Mikado and Irish bands in pubs...went to 14 schools in Oz, Ireland and England...First band I ever saw was Anti-pasti with UK Subs in London in 1980 and I saw the UK Subs again and they still rock.....Saw Bauhaus in 82 (secret goth)....Last movies were I Confess with Anne Baxter, Topkapi with Peter Ustinov, Breakfast at Tiffany's (:, Carry on Cabbie, Casino Royale 60's one, The Woman in Question, Mirrormask, Sunshine, Hombre with Diane Cilento and Paul Newman, Suspicion (Hitchcock), Meteor (was this a murder movie or disaster?), Bang Rajan, Flightplan, 2 Mules for Sister Sara, Ipcress file with Michael Caine, Harry Potter Prisoner of Askaban, Pickup on South Street 1953 with Richard Widmark, this is an awesome anti-commie propaganda movie...damned reds, Diary of the Dead, Kindergarten Cop, Hot Fuzz, Ivan the Terrible (terrible movie but I slept a lot), Roman Holiday, Princess Monoake (smiles), Touch of Evil with Orson Welles (this is genius), Brothers Grimm, Pirates of the Caribbean2........play a game called hurling...carry Ganesh in my wallet, carry a photo of Diane Cilento in my wallet cos she's a role model and a sufi and she looks better than my driver's license....enjoy singing, like this band a lot, making odd collages....Politics/beliefs...I believe in reincarnation...Hence the Inquisition is not over yet...Everyone is mad but if you let them know they abuse you for it...The hospital system will collapse if they keep buying expensive drugs that don't work...They went around the moon but never landed...911 was a set up....Drug laws are simply a form of discrimination created by alcoholics who made the laws during the Inquisition to eradicate herbalists and take over the medicine monopoly...HIV/AIDS is a mad racist science that poisons black mothers and gays with AIDS drugs, all I'm left with in my head is the pictures of children with their skin falling off from Nevirapine...Sergeant Hurley from the QLD police should fess up to what he did to Doomadgee to kill him and have the courage to face the consequences...The war in Kosovo was staged by the West to take over the biggest mine in Europe...I believe Rhodes Fairbridge was right and we will have an mini ice age from 2010 to 2050 (we still need more trees and I hate petrol)..........big smiles_____

I'll send you a letter if it gets better....Looking for that one day in your life when instead of wishing, it actually is true...Me and Doug will do an experimental electronic set at X and Y bar on Monday 30th November 8pm with Rariecorn...We play Midnight at the 4ZZZ Birthday gig on Dec 5th at The Jubilee Hotel....Star Sludge is a four piece 'not quite punk' grunge dance band from Brisbane.....with the ambition to push James Blunt off the airwaves (well, I don't hear him anymore, may have got my wish)...I've added Hinder to that list ...There are a LOT OF PHOTOS at the pic link.....Doug was the old Escape from Toytown guitarist back in 95/96, when he came back from Japan we jammed again, Sally worked with Doug in land repair/reclamation across the road from the Time Off magazine office and Doug got Sal's band Black Athena to play at an Alien Virus gig....then Black Athena broke up so Sal joined Star Sludge, we got Troy to do bass, I've known Troy since we ran the Treasury Hotel gigs in the early 90's when he played in Mickey Flip..so there we go.... Crossing The Boredom Line, Escape from Toytown and Slide are live songs here so it's like a virtual gig...more to add later...(:...you can download many songs at the link....we don't do band promo photos cos it's embarrassing to be on the front cover of any street press magazine with a gumby "look at us we're a rock band" photo, we are not looking for a record company make us work harder and Cal (that's me) won't talk to the media (cos I'm hostile) unless it's live on radio or a DIY fanzine, the others will?.....I keep a mindless basic Myspace site so it doesn't freeze your computer with self promoting rubbish.....We recorded the Clarence Hotel gig on the 28th February, thanks TJ Divers......I've just put a 23 year comp called 'Glad I'm Not Famous' with mastered Alien Virus, Acid World, Star Sludge etc. into Rocking Horse for $13....
We're now mixing the album...alright.....we record with Murray from The Foundry and TJ Divers and mix with Phill from Chucknee and Blowhard..
....we practice in lounge rooms, my '8 gig computer' room and in a shed at Tweed.....Stumpy (Andrew Leavold) drums in Alien Virus our side band (Alien Virus is all the Star Sludge members without Sally).....check Stump's Weng Weng adventures via the Trash Video link below....

They were No System in England in 1982... Yeah that one's been going around, it's killing us! It got sold to RG's, which isn't good, but it's still open and exactly the same so far. They might change it down the track, who knows, but at the moment it's the same old Ric's, except with a lot less people because everyone thinks it's closed/the devil...haha.
