Now the time has come for their eagerly anticipated debut album.
SDW have produced a 14 track long-player that embraces the ethos of mid 90's hip hop and the raw energy of 70's funk, whilst bringing something distinctly unique to the scene. Using techniques of heavily chopping and re-sequencing samples to create their own loops, mixed with live instruments and percussion to create new music, which blurs the lines between sampled and live musical compositions.
This album includes the vocal talents of Ohmega Watts (Ubiquity), Dr Syntax (Foreign Beggars), Othello (Light Headed), MCM (Caveman), CornBread (Kali Wild/ Stones Throw affiliate) and Shaun Abu (NY/ Philly) who each individually rock their preferred beats to perfection. Amongst these are 4 instrumental songs, which flawlessly demonstrate and showcase the production skills that are rampant within the workshop.
There truly is something for everyone on this record. SDW, from the outset have been determined to keep things fresh and not become stuck in one particular style or to be pigeon holed. They have achieved this to great effect whilst keeping a coherent sound throughout.
In addition to the full cd release we have also pressed a limited 12.. vinyl sampler of the album, which includes brand new tracks only, from what is sure to be the best true school album this year. We are sure that you will agree.:: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: ::
