SteelRage is one of the most important heavy metal bands in the chilean scene. The band started from the members of the heavy/thrash band Disorder, with Patricio Solar (guitars/vocals), Melvin Poblete (guitars), Julio Díaz (bass guitar) and Francisco Vera (drums). As their style shifted they looked out for a new name and new bandmates, finding lead singer Oliver Monterrosa and keyboardist Alejandro Bustamente. The band’s new line-up starts to draw attention in the slowly growing Santiago heavy metal scene, showing their energetic performance in numerous shows. During that period of time they start to work on their first studio release “I Swear Revenge” (EP – 1999) at Francisco Straub’s Studio. This studio is well respected because of Francisco’s recordings with Los Prisioneros, one of the most important Chilean bands of the 80’s. In 2002 the band underwent through a few line-up changes. Julio Díaz and Oliver Monterrosa leave the band and are replaced be Christian Willembrinck (bass guitar) and Jaime Contreras (vocals). This new line-up gets to record Steelrage’s first studio LP, named “Engraved in Steel”, receiving great remarks from national and foreign media. With excellent reviews on SteelRage’s debut from Colombia, Poland, Germany, Greece, Japan, and many others, the band plays all over the country with great success. After several years, founding member Francisco Vera leaves the band and gets replaced by the young talented Franz Strauss. The band shoots the clip for “Red Line” and follows up playing through Santiago and many other cities. April 3rd of 2004 turns into an important landmark on SteelRage’s carreer, as they serve as opening act for the spanish band Mago de Oz in a packed venue with 7000 spectators. This show was also used as footage for their second video clip “We’ll Never Give Up”. A new change in SteelRage’s line-up goes on in the keyboard position: Alejandro Bustamante is replaced by Pascal Coulón. The band starts recording their 2nd studio album at Pascal’s place at the end of 2007. The new album, named “Double Life”, had a live show release in July 11th 2008 at the Sala SCD Vespucio. Meanwhile they play as opening act for Symphony X in the Teatro Caupolicán with a 4000 people attendance. In 2009 SteelRage opens for Edguy from Germany at the Centro de Eventos Blondie and has another couple of important line-up changes. Rodrigo Villena (former MASSACRE drummer) takes on the drums and the gifted female bass player América Soto (from Desterrados and Polímetro) joins the band. With this new line-up, the band is prepares to deliver a 3rd studio record and plenty of shows in and outside Santiago. .

SteelRage es una de las bandas de heavy metal más importantes de la escena nacional chilena. Parten el año 1998 como una prolongación de la banda de heavythrash DISORDER con Patricio Solar (guitarra y voz) Melvin Poblete (guitarra), Julio Díaz (bajo) y Francisco Vera (batería). El cambio de estilo y de nombre hizo que buscaran nuevos integrantes. Oliver Monterrosa se hizo cargo de la voz y Alejandro Bustamante de los teclados. Con esta formación consolidada, comienzan a dar que hablar en la incipiente escena heavy metal santiaguina con numerosos y energéticos shows. Mientras, se abocan a la grabación de lo que sería su primer trabajo, el EP "I Swear Revenge" (1999), grabado en los estudios del prestigioso ingeniero Francisco Straub (Los Prisioneros). En 2002, la banda realiza cambios en su alineación. Julio Díaz deja el bajo y Oliver Monterrosa dejan la banda, siendo reemplazados por Christian Willembrinck y Jaime Contreras, respectivamente. Esta alineación graba el primer larga duración de STEELRAGE, el que lleva por título "Engraved in Steel", con una gran recepción en la crítica nacional y extranjera. Medios de Colombia, Polonia, Alemania, Grecia y Japón entre otros, coinciden en la calidad del disco debut de STEELRAGE. La banda toca en gran parte del país con mucho éxito. Nuevamente un par de cambios en la alineación en el bajo y en la batería donde el fundador, Francisco Vera, es reemplazado por el talentoso Franz Strauss. La banda graba su primer video clip, "Red Line" y sigue recorriendo el país con sus shows. Un hito importante en la carrera de los nacionales. El 3 de abril de 2004 son el número de apertura del show de los españoles MAGO DE OZ, ante más de 7.000 personas que vibraron con el concierto de los santiaguinos. Esta presentación sirvió para que la banda grabara su segundo videoclip, "We'll Never Give Up". La banda realiza un nuevo cambio en la alineación. Alejandro Bustamante deja los teclados, siendo reemplazado por Pascal Coulón. En el estudio de éste, se inicia la grabación, a fines de 2007 de su segundo larga duración, "Double Life", el que fue lanzado el 11 de julio de 2008 en la sala SCD de Plaza Vespucio. En el intertanto, realizan el show de apertura de los estadounidenses de SYMPHONY X, en el Teatro Caupolicán, ante cuatro mil personas. En el año 2009 la banda abre el show de los alemanes Edguy en el Centro de eventos Blondie y realiza nuevamente un par de importantes cambios en la alineación. Rodrigo Villena (ex MASSACRE) se hace cargo de la batería y el bajo es propiedad de la talentosa América Soto (ex DESTERRADOS, POLIMETRO). Con esta alineaciòn ya consolidada, la banda está preparando nuevos shows en Santiago y regiones y se encuentra en la preproducción de lo que será su tercer disco.
