Bio
St. Elmos Fire was formed in 1979 by guitarist/songwriter Jeff Jones and singer Tim Raynor-Allwein in Citrus Heights California. The original lineup also included Steve Raynor on bass and Alan Kreutzer on drums. Due to their high energy performances and songs the band quickly became a favorite in the local club scene especially in college areas such as UC Davis and Berkeley. Within a year they were opening for major acts such as Nightranger, Y&T, Nazareth, in the Bay Area club circuit which included the prestigious Keystone Clubs. Their original demos soon became highly sought after and the band would literally sell thousands to their fans. They remain highly collectable even today. In 1981 the band completed a 4 month tour of Canada where they caught the attention of producer Dito Godwin (No Doubt, Great White, Peter Criss, Wildside) who agreed to produce and manage the band. In 1982 the band released their first single "Too Bad" to rave reviews in the US and Europe. By 1983 the band relocated to Hollywood and soon Zane Lazar replaced Tim as vocalist . Kris Gustofson of Shrapnel recording artist "Trauma" (who's members also included Cliff Burton who later played in Metallica) joined the band on drums as well as bassist Simon Evans from Switzerland. St. Elmos Fire soon became a hit on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood performing regularly at the Whisky-A-Go-Go,The Roxy, The Troubadour, and Gazzarri's. Even though they played a darker and harder sound the LA fans loved them and they headlined with such bands as Warrant, Poison, and Hurricane amongst others. In 1986 the band signed it's first record deal and issued their self titled debut "St Elmo's Fire" mainly on the strength of demo tapes that found their way to Europe the previous year. The songs "Breakin' Out", "Into the Night" and "Don't Drop It" (a anthem from their original demo) instantly got the band recognized by rockers worldwide. Soon that album topped the European metal record and radio charts that year. The metal science fiction epic "Warning From The Sky" was released in !988 based on a story by author Ray Bradbury. It became hugely popular and included the songs " World Gone Insane" " Hearts on Fire", "Caught in the Heartbreak" and "Let it Burn". St. Elmos Fire released their first video for MTV for "Caught In The Heartbreak" also in that year. By 1990 the band added bassist Aaron Smith and soon recorded the Jeff Jones written and produced "Powerdrive" . Once again this album became a big hit especially in Europe and became a favorite of both the European metal press and fans alike. Songs like "Gonna Get Wild", "Isolation" and "I Need Your Touch" continued the sci-fi theme of a futuristic society . The band toured for most of 1990 and 1991. In 1992 St Elmos Fire released another Jones produced album "Desperate Years" which included the songs "Chain Around My Heart", "Desperate Years" and " Hot Time". This album gained the band many new converts and once again received amazing reviews worldwide. Once again the band hit the road in the US for several months. In 1992 after completing their "Lovers and Madmen" tour in support of the"Desperate Years" album the band decided to call it quits. In 1993 Jeff joined sleaze metal rockers "Vamp Le Stat" to write and record their famous "Bloodline" album. Currently guitarist Jeff Jones and drummer Kris Gustofson are planning a possible return of St. Elmos Fire. In 2011 guitarist Jeff Jones founded XXX RECORDS AMERICA. Dear friend.Hello,How are you?
I find your eyes to be a wondrous amusement park filled with neo-plastic pleasures and turkish delights. Your layers of absinthe and torsion form concretions of hyper-alimentation. You are dressed with filaments and people take pains to make you fully incandescent this evening. Your cleverness helps me breathe without the need of oxygen. I love your eyes, I know they can stare through my thoughts. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence. How beautiful is the snowshine in your eyes, so directly current from the static in your mind. The music that flows from your instruments overwhelms me with creativity. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. Your sweet voice is like the application of aloe vera upon a sunburnt back. You breath as delicately as vapors flowing towards an attractive flame. So charmingly silky, your skin is like a teardrop on a popsickle. You ever remind me of the enigma of happy thoughts I once forgot.
Thanks for the add!
