A double live of Stepan Smetacek
Stepan Smetacek was born in Prague, Czech Republic to a musical family, his father Pavel a known jazzman, mother Marta a musicologist and grandfather Vaclav a symphony conductor. He completed studies of Conservatory in Prague in discoplaine percussion instruments. He quickly becomes a well known drummer and since then is busy in various engagements and recordings (Arakain, Vitacit, Wanastowi Vjecy, Zemětřesení, Guy-Mann Dude, Druhá tráva, Lucie, Peter Rowan, Die El. Eleffant?!, Jesus Crist Superstar, Lenka Dusilová etc..). As a studio drummer he recorded more then 30 cd‘s, played with czech and international projects of variose music styles. Stepan participiets like a composer or arranger on many of these projects.
Since of '95 started his art double live. He still plays as a session drummer with various artists and projects in rock and pop, but in free time he compose own music for his original project named New Orchestra of Dreams. New Orchestra of Dreams is more virtual idea than real band. Stepan record many instruments for this cd’s. For live actions it had many shapes, from one-man-show to jazz-rock big band. Stepan Smetacek created 6 solo albums, as New Orchestra of Dreams or just Stepan Smetacek. On these albums there are various music systems, from abstact experiments, songs in czech and english, jazz-rock instrumental piaces to compositions for big ansamble. This music ganre is unclassifiable, it is collage of music styles in forma instrument of reflex. The latest album relased 2009 is named "Orchestra Mortus, Vivat Orchestra".
In last time (06 - 09) Stepan currently performed for czech pop star singer Aneta Langerova, rock'n'roll band Airfare, with international drummers project Slet bubeniku (Gathering of drummers), he recorded with krisna core band Kashmir 9:41, he teached and also performed solo as Stepan Smetacek, Stepan Smetacek & friends or Stepan Smetacek & New Orchestra of Dreams .
