Tom Rush, Joni Michell, Dave Van Ronk, Geoff Bartley,Ry Cooder, Jim Reeves , Beatles, Dylan, Tom Petty, Tony Rice. Everyone I ever heard and thought I could learn from.
About the new old tunes: David's Guitar is an old 12 string thing I invented for my first CD, "Right Here". You know, the one with the Izod sweater, and the airbrushed hair, that I'll never live down. The Guitar, a Guild F-212, was purchased at the Vintage Fret Shop in Ashland NH. which is owned by David Coburn, thus, the title. Queen Anne's Lace features the late great Johnny Cunningham on fiddle, and was written by David Olney, whose site you can find among my Friends. The Exeter Music ad is from 10 years ago when we first bought the store. I can't think straight, but I talk and play pretty good. Any voice over agencies out there?? I can probably do it better than whoever you got doin' it now. Is that arrogant? Oh, well. The Rusted Nuts is a band made up of losers, rejects, has-beens, and never was-es from the crackerjack staff of Exeter Music. "City of N.O." ain't bad for a couple of old men and two insolent young pups. Grace at Play is a little jig type dance I made up so I could have something to hop around to (picture that) with my kitten (ok, cat) Grace. Sometimes she likes to dance, other times not so much. I have the scars to prove it. "Don't Wanna" is a tune I wrote a coupla' decades ago. It's even more applicable today. "I Know This Road" is generally thought of as my "best" song. It certainly is the most covered. Now, if I could just get Alan Jackson to do it. Perhaps George Strait? Willie? This version is a prototype. The final edition of it appears on my new CD "A Feelin' Like That". Which , while it has no Izod sweater, and no airbrushed hair, does have Roger Williams on dobro, and Joyce Andersen on fiddle, and can be checked out and actually purchased simply by pushing the 'CD Baby" button right over there to the left. So long, for now, and remember, even though I may seem like a crotchety old f-rt, I'm actually a pretty decent guy. Sez me. HA! S.
