Greetings - you've arrived @ the myspace page of Steve Conte, New York City guitarist/singer/songwriter (AND producer!) -
i have somehow been able to make beautiful music with artists as diverse as David Johansen/Sylvain Sylvain, Maceo Parker,
Paul Simon, Willy DeVille, Peter Wolf, Billy Squier and Yoko Kanno. I guess that makes me a punk/funk/folk/blues/rock/jazz musician.

I recently produced my new band's debut record - "STEVE CONTE & THE CRAZY TRUTH" with bassist Leeko & drummer Philly Stewart.
Special guests include David Johansen on harmonica, Nicki Richards and Catherine Russell on gospel vocals
and Danny Ray, Kiku Collins and Tom Timko on horns. Our rock 'n roll trio's nasty new album
was mixed by the legendary Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Keith Richards) and mastered by the equally
amazing Richard Dodd (Tom Petty) It's just been released on the Varese Vintage label http://varesevintage.wordpress.com

I am also the lead guitarist for the legendary New York Dolls (I took over for the late Johnny Thunders). The reunion of the Dolls began in 2004 with a live concert in London at Royal Festival Hall (Arthur "Killer" Kane's last show, fortunately recorded for DVD & CD) and has resulted in a new studio record.
The long overdue 3rd New York Dolls album, "One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This" released on 7/25/06 by
Roadrunner Records was produced by the legendary JACK DOUGLAS. The new band lineup of myself,
David Johansen, Sylvain Sylvain, Sami Yaffa, Brian Delaney & Brian Koonin were joined in the studio
by special guests BO DIDDLEY, IGGY POP and MICHAEL STIPE. On the new record I'm playing both
rhythm and lead guitar, singing much of the background vocals, co-writing three songs with Johansen and one with Johansen/Sylvain.

Besides being a Doll and having my own singer/songwriter career I occasionally play with PAUL SIMON,
WILLIE NILE and ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS.

I produce & play on my own records and have been known to do the same for other artists i dig....

**************************************************************************************************************************** In 1990 Mercury records released the eponymous debut album by my band, COMPANY OF WOLVES,
a bluesy, hard rockin' quartet from NYC (the band's drummer Frankie LaRocka -RIP-
had kept the beat for "The David Johansen Band" a decade earlier.) The Wolves also included
my bass player brother John Conte and singer Kyf Brewer. The band made 2 videos for MTV
and a 2nd studio album called "Rhythm & Booze" which remains unreleased. Check out the
