You may think youve never heard of Brooklyn born MC and DJ, Stimulus, but youre probably wrong. His latest effort sees him taking a break from the well known funk-hop, New York based The Real Live Show, a collective of two lyricists (Stimulus & Dionysos) together with a seven piece jazz/funk ensemble. TRLS was formed in 2001; known for their charismatic energy and sounds live on stage, captured audiences worldwide, and for a young Stimulus, it was a beautiful thing for me to be a part of a large musical and artistic community; it was crazy for me to see people like Damon Dash at my shows.
2007 brings us Stimulus as youve never seen him before. Introducing his two years in the making, debut artist album, A Kings County Tale, on Sugarwater Recordings/Hitnodic Entertainment, exclusively distributed through Fontana/Universal. His latest effort builds a remarkably complete musical picture, encompassing Stimulus myriad of influences, self described as an expression and exploration of diverse experiences. The album features special guest appearances from Steele (Smiff-N-Wessun, The Boot Camp Clique), Spagga (Proyecto Uno), Maya Azucena, Natty Bless, Kae Hoc and Cali Bud. Its amazing that with Stimulus in such high demand, whether he is an MC, DJ, musician, performer, writer or a businessman, he still finds time to release yet another album.
His previous work has appeared in numerous television programs including Show Time Networks gritty police drama Street Time featuring Terence Howard, infamous horror movie Vampiyaz and not forgetting the Pontiac Vibe car commercial which Stimulus personally starred in himself! Stimulus has also shared the stage with some of the most respected names in music, such as De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Redman, Jungle Brothers, Dead Prez, Black Star, Brazilian Girls, Roy Hargrove, Digital Underground, and Wax Poetics. A self confessed Jack of all trades, master of none, student of all, watch out this summer for more live performances and a new album by Stimulus!
