Stoney is a solo multi-instrumentalist and plays nearly all the instruments on his records. However, as he only has 2 arms & legs and is bad at simultaneous multitasking, he is joined by various talented close friends to take the songs to the stage.
This piece was written in third person narrative by Stoney. He now feels a little creepy.
My name is Stoney.
I’m an “indie artist” made in Great Britain. These days home is where I lay my hat. Only I don’t own a hat. Instead I have a thick thatch of hair and good shoes which will suffice.
I spend much of my time writing songs and making records in small dark rooms.
My songs are difficult to dance to, but hopefully good for the soul.
My latest release entitled “The Scene & The Unseen” (See what I did there?) is now available to hear/steal/buy by playin with this here snazzy gadget:
If you are the type to be swayed by the opinions of others, here are some press review snippets of the record like wot they do in dem adverts n stuff:
"..One moment the gifted lone operator affects the kind of trenchant rock-riff panache associated with the younger Bowie, the next he's rattling off urban nightlife images with the droll elegance of The Kinks..."
**** The Independent
"..A gem of a debut, packed with invention..." NME
"..The Scene & The Unseen runs the gamut of the best pop over the past 40 years...
lyrically sharp and defying classification, every song is a new experience.."
**** Sunday Express
"..A sussed, intelligent and joyous record..:Simply put, I cant think of many better songwriters operating at the moment than Mark Stoney.."

The Stoney live shows involve a revolving cast of fine musician pals who venture with me to the corners of the earth to play the songs at high volume accompanied by animated body movements. It’s great fun.
In recent times, the Stoney live circus has performed lots of shows including the Glastonbury, Leeds, Truck & SXSW festivals. We have also toured with bands such as the Magic Numbers, Arctic Monkeys, Jamie T, Athlete and Feeder.
Come see us do our thang sometime.

Just stopped by to say thanks for Jailbird ..... playing on repeat whilst I sat in a traffic queue courtesy of TFL. Forgot how good that song is. Ideal for a rainy, strike day in the UK. Lifted the spirits admirably.
Bet you are REALLY missing the UK at times like this.
happy late birthday Stoney the virtuoso! Of course I knew it was your birthday, just decided to delay the wishes to make them look more illustrious amongst the rest :) Can't wait to one day hear a real demo version of what will remain in my mind the-lego-song
Love ya Stoney....your in our favorites right next to Bowie and the Furs.....we just posted our first new tune in well...decades...stop by and give a listen...best to you.....
the song from the "work in progress video" has become the soundtrack of my dream...in which all the people who roam the streets are...brace yourself...LEGO people. fantastic! Does the tune have a name, or shall I come up with one for the version that plays in my head? ;)
