BABY VENOM Lo-fi keyboard-playin tape-recordin indie PoP From Baltimore USA, their first ever UK tour!!!
Someone said this about their tape: "Sarah, Dave, and Nathan form a lo-fi sythn group that evokes all the best elements of the Casio modification movement: endearing lyrics and vocals, bittersweet shimmering timbers, nostalgic melodies, with just the right amount of zaniness."
TIGERS! Leeds loons who you may recognise from Cowtown, Cissy, Humanfly and many others...
Started out a spazzy, spikey riffed grindcore outfit with a sense of humour. Now a self proclaimed - 'Party Band' The riffs are still spiked, the songs are still nuts, but they now come with more of a poppy - devoesque edge, and an endless fancy dress treasure chest. Somewhere between the Locust, Arab on Radar and Devo
HOUSE OF JOHN PLAYER Young Dean Spencer from Bletchley with his guitar, accordian, harmonica, floor tom and loop pedal. Layers upon layers of rhythmic pop fun topped off with a voice bigger than what you would expect from such a skinny guy. Into Animal Collective?
ALTERSKETCH Young Bletch-ites play their long overdue leisure centre debut. "They play energetic music, rapturous melodies over shuddering rhythms." Big fans of 90's indie rock.
SATURDAY - 23/05/09 - 8:00 till midnight - £5 - GOOD MUSIC PLAYED ALL NIGHT
All this in the sweet surroundings of BLETCHLEY LEISURE CENTRE, a wonderful circular room with seats around the sides to sit down on and a dancefloor in the middle to get down on.
Thank you very much, that's quite a compliment. If you want a CD just message us with your address and we'll get one to you asap. We're all out of our limited run of tapes, they had snippets of Freak Power and the Levellers and glitter covered cases and everything!
This beautiful super-heavyweight LP, which comes packaged in a sweet full-colour sleeve reunites the UK's premier free drummer Alex Neilson, who's played, amongst others, with Motor Ghost, Directing Hand, Trembling Bells, Tight Meat Duo, Josephine Foster, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Jandek, MV&EE, Richard Youngs, Baby Dee and Alastair Galbraith, with Nmperign member Greg Kelley, whose reinvention of the trumpet is as crucial now as Anthony Braxton's reinvention of the sax was 30 years ago. A screeching, soaring, scattergun array of noises come maniacally out of Greg's horn, unlike anything we've ever heard and, with the addition of random stabs of electronics, he successfully straddles no wave, concrete and free jazz in a way that makes those genres seem like trite pigeonholes.
