Since 2003, a unique voice of dissent has been attacking the mainstream with unexpected ideas, a black sense of humor, and riffs as heavy as the Earth itself. That voice is Stormland, the death metal project of Justin Pierrot. Whether examining anything from serious issues to foreign film, the lyrics of a Stormland song are story-driven and lacking the random poetics of many other bands. Whether its describing ideas of revenge or calling attention to a myriad of global issues, there is always something to be discussed in one of the band‘s songs.
The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer Justin Pierrot, Stormland is a one-man project with a line-up having been assembled in the past to play a single, well received set as part of Thrash Wrestling’s Super Evil 6 tournament show in December of 2007. Any future line-ups will be built for live shows as necessary.
Since it’s inception in 2003, Stormland has slowly, but steadily gained notoriety and influence through a grassroots following of internet fans. The band has enjoyed airplay on college radio in Kamloops, as well as been named a band of the month by B.C. Metal Forces and the Mass Hypnosis Radio Podcast. Music lovers from across the world are discovering Stormland‘s back to basics brand of death metal, and some fans of note include Hirax and Holy Moses singers Katon De Pena and Sabina Classen.

Today (12/13/06), on the anniversary of his death, we mourn the loss of Chuck Schuldiner, one of the greatest guitar players to ever grace the music scene. I consider him a big influence on my playing, and he will be missed by all. If you have an opportunity, please give to a cancer research organization. I know I certainly will.

The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal.
