Hakkımızda Strangers in Polaroids [RIP 2006 - 2008]
Like most bands, they profess to a wide range of sounds and influences yet for Strangers in Polaroids, it’s a justifiable statement. Sweeping, graceful rock segues into thunderous drums and riffs, locking into jazzy, tribal grooves before venturing into effects laden progressive and post-rock territories..
At the heart of these melting pot soundscapes are evocative melodies and harmonies, with lyrics which tackle jealous lovers, murderous spouses, administration and the living dead.
Formed in Newcastle upon Tyne at the tail end of 2006, they played an impressive string of debut gigs, which included supporting Rival Schools legend Walter Schreifels in Bristol, an Oxford homecoming gig for singer Matt, and their own Waiting for Winter gig promotions.
The band then stormed their London live debut and supported the likes of Amusement Parks on Fire, Rose Kemp, Grammatics, This Et Al and Dive Dive.
At the beginning of 2008 they launched their debut EP and followed it with a second – featuring Life in a Box and Black and White - as well as a live acoustic session for NE1FM.
Strangers in Polaroids played their final gig at The End on September 21st 2008. They are now Waiting for Winter with new guitarist Simon Walker.

Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.
Thank you for the support. It means a great deal - the past few months have been amazing. Great reviews, great shows up and down the country, airplay and interviews with Kerrang! Radio & Total Rock Radio, even a show at Alexandra Palace for Freestyle Festival has been confirmed.

See you out there x
"NIXA possess a quality that sets them apart from other front runners on the alt/rock scene with perfect dynamics and incredible song craft. They bounce between gentle and aggressive in a single beat, tied with soaring harmonies and mesmerising stage presence. This band will find themselves being listened to by a wide audience, no doubts in both the alternative and commercial rock scenes" TOTAL ROCK
"...done very, very well. Deep, powerful voice, BIG music and just the feeling that something very professional is happening -I don't mean in a clinical way, just in that way that, when you find out they're unsigned, it's a bit of a shock!" XFM
"The absolute epiphany of my weekend was London based Nixa. Everytime I see this band, I fall in love a little bit more. Their performance was stunning and it was definitely the climax of the night as things petered off afterwards. Their Biffy Clyro-esque style, gorgeous vocal harm
If you're a local artist/musician, manager or promoter and you'd like to be more self-sufficient through your creative projects and you have a degree ... then why not try this new Masters course at the University of Bolton starting in September ...
I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman

For the last few months we've been locked away in bedrooms around the Northeast, and one particularly dingy practice room in Felling, writing new songs and perfecting a new set for you all.
So...you are all invited down to the Cooperage Monday 16th March for the small fee of £1.50 to view the latest spectacle plus support from Wooden Spoons. And... as an added gesture all who make an appearance are granted free entry into Connection afterwards!
if you havn't already spotted and fancy a look, we have just put up a taster of our new mini album, which is out on the 30th of March, if you don't mind having a listen that'd be super good of you
