Some new Jon Robert Press:
‘Real World: Brooklyn’ gets a Boston soundtrack
If anyone caught the premiere of the “Real World: Brooklyn” last night, chances are you heard a bit of Boston even though there aren’t any Hub cats on the cast. (Personal trainer guy Scott Herman is the closest local, hailing from
Salem, N.H.).
But if we were robbed of any local sights on last night’s first episode, we at least got some Boston sounds, as singer-songwriter Jon Robert had a troika of unreleased songs played during the show.
MTV aired three new cuts from the Ipswich native’s upcoming album, “Meant To Be”: “Marilyn,” “Only In Your Eyes” and the album’s title track. If you missed it last night – fear not. The premiere airs again this afternoon at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., and tonight at 8 p.m.
Robert and his arsenal of melodies is no stranger to song placement on MTV. He’s had about 15 of his songs used on various shows on the former music network in the past 18 months or so, and his track “Touch Down” was recently included in season three finale of “The Hills.” Robert was also featured as “Artist of the Week” on MTVu, the network’s online aim towards college students.
Check out his songs at myspace.com/jonroberttour or at the “Real World: Brooklyn” music page at soundtrack.mtv.com. Robert’s next local gig is an RSVP-only acoustic show at the Jamspot in Somerville Jan. 16, then hits Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge with a full band Jan. 24.
Averi live at Daniel Webster College.
