800 shows in 3 and a half years and counting....Stuart O'Connor Honed his style first on the electric guitar as guitarist/vocalist with progressive rock 3 piece 'My Pet Junkie' (With Julia Bell & Leon Camfield) with whom he's been a member for 8 years touring the UK extensively.
In 2006 he made a step in a new direction with the release of his 'Autonomous Debut' Album. 16 tracks which featured a great array of guest musicians who helped sculpt a record that 2BOB.co.uk called "Gentle, powerful, uplifing...quite simply a stunning Debut." 'Wake Up Call' from the record was also chosen as Single of the Week by Lemonrock.com.
The 'Autonomous Debut' Tour lasted 2 years playing 450 venues including 52 shows (3 months) touring Australia and New Zealand and also featured a jaunt as support to Ocean Colour Scene.
2008 saw the release of his second full length effort 'The Distance From Here'. Described as "A more aware record" the 13 tracks have elements of folk/Jazz/Rock/Fusion and hip hop.
Live the shows have made the progression that can only come from intense touring and with a second tour of New Zealand and Australia just completed as well as a run of shows in Japan; plus a reputation that is growing steadily; things are feeling more positive than ever for this full time 100% independent musician.

Hey, i went to a pub/gig in Lewisham London in 2005 (FOXFEST). and you tried to sort me out with a copy of your then current cd... when all i had was 83p lol sad times.
anyways since then, i hadn't forgotten you and recently went back to myspace to see how your music was going. and wanted to say its so great to see you're touring in JAPAN!!!! just a quick well done and i hope it all continues to go the best for you!
ps since 2005 i have sorted out more than 83p for a spending budget =]
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Great Show at The Beaver, Watford last night! Thanks Stu and the Gang!! for doing this last show before Japan, hope it goes well and hope you come and play again on your return! The set was sick! (i think thats what the kids say!! ha ha)
