Substance over Style was born out of three guys, two brothers and a cousin, with nothing to do on Friday nights. Due to our inability to really cover anyone's songs we began writing our own. After attempts at genres such as rap/rock and nu metal we eventually settled on pop punk, for a while.
Now five years after these first beginnings many things have changed, it is now just the brothers Kinnon writing and recording. We draw from all different genres, including hard rock, pop, and metal. We occasionally play the live gig, but spend more time honing our songwriting, production, and musical talents into a finely tuned songmaking machine. That didn't sound to pretentioius did it? Anyways give our stuff a listen, tell us what you think, and see if you can't make it out to one of our (rare) shows.

I like to write. when you write songs, do you write the music first and then add lyrics or lyrics and then music? ^^ lol I ask too many questions! XD
