This is a tribute to Suburban Noise, a band formed in 1995 in Campi Salentina (Lecce), Puglia, South East of Italy. From 1995 to 2000 Su.N. produced 5 releases of what they discovered someone called "emo".
The very first release was a demo titled "Walking Alone", a tape containing the first attempts in punk rock music, deeply influenced by skateboard-punk culture (the very first time they listened to Pegboy was while watching the Santa Cruz video "Strange Notes"). A second and official demo "Suburban Noise", paved the way to the first 7" record "Sunward", released in 1997, when Luca (voice/guitar), Stefano ( bass guitar/back vocals) and Luigi (drums/back vocals) were just 18. Su.N. produced another album the following year, a cd EP titled "Here comes the Sun" (ignoring the fact that there was a famous song by the Beatles with the same title!): 5 powerful, heartfelt and emotionally-driven songs that marked the golden years of this Mediterranean bunch of guys. The band played many shows between 1996 and 1998 in the DIY scene, sharing the stage with italian HC bands like Tempo Zero, Eversor (now The Miles Apart), Shock Treatment, NonToccateMiranda,Sprinzi, DIA and many others, and having the honour to open the 1998 edition of MAIZZA Hardcore Festival in Fasano (Puglia).
As a matter of fact the band never produced a long-playing album, the last release was the split 7" with the post-hc revelation band Room 104,
"El sonido de la ciento y cuatro", later (in 2002) mentioned as a pioneer emo release for the italian scene by Andrea Pomini in the music magazine "RUMORE".
The band broke up unofficially sometime between 1999 and 2000...and now....... friendship goes on!
The good news is Luca, Luigi and Stefano announced their desire to continue to do music (even if so far from each other) during their reunion-concert on the 29 of December 2008, 10 years after the release of the split 7" "El sonido de la ciento y cuatro": the new band's name will probably be B-612, the name given to the asteroid which the Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry lived on.
In the meantime, Suburban Noise had the chance to re-release all their discography in a cd titled "El sonido del suburbio" for the japanese independent label Sp-Records.
This album is dedicated to all the friends and fans who never forgot Su.N. during these years.
Stay tuned!
