"To strengthen and give more muscle to the ear, brain, heart, limbs and FEET! Atta boy!—Keep up our fight!—ART!—Hard at it!—Don't quit because the ladybirds don't like it!" Subvert Central Recordings was initially created in 2003 by members of the online forum Subvert Central to provide another outlet for the dnb leftfield. It is now a DIY non-profit vinyl enterprise releasing whatever we like just for the hell of it. Non-profit because money isn't everything, is it. Vinyl because it's not throwaway music. With a policy of wilful obscurity – no marketing, no distribution – the label exists solely on direct sales promoted by word of mouth and computer keyboard. SC Vol.1, a 3x12" vinyl EP featuring Alpha Omega (Dublin), Blue (Brighton) and Pieter K (Los Angeles), was released in Autumn 2005. SC Vol.2, a 3x12" vinyl EP featuring Fracture & Neptune (London), Sileni (Boston), Uzhas (Moscow) and Dissident (St Petersburg), was released in Autumn 2006. SC Vol.3, a 3x12" vinyl LP featuring Atomhead (De Pinte/Belgium), Fanu (Helsinki), Formication (Nottingham), Macc (London), Nubian Mindz (Dublin), DJ Trax (London) and Cryme (Ottawa), was released in Summer 2008.
