Súld was established in the fall of 1986 by Steingrimur and Szymon.
First as a trio that consisted of violin, bass and drums, but soon guitar was added and the band became a quartet. Later, keyboard and percussion was added to the line up.
All the members of the band where highly educated and experienced musicians who combinen their talents into the experimental and open music direction presented by Súld.
Súld toured Canada three times 1987-1990 and recorded 2 albums.
Súld performed their last concert in London 1993 at the Barbican Art center.
The band did a reunion concert 1.oct 2006 in memory of Szymon Kuran.
Nú er loks hljómplatan Bukoliki með hljómsveitinni Súld fáanleg á geisladisk, en hún hefur verið ófáanleg um árabil eða hátt í tuttugu ár, Bukoliki kom fyrst út 1988 og var útgefandinn þá Grammið.
Súld var vinsæl tónleika hljómsveit hérlendis og erlendis, er skemmst frá því að segja að þegar Súld hélt tónleika á Hótel Borg á sínum tíma mættu iðulega fimm hundruð manns!
Með Szymon Kuran í fararbroddi er hér áheyrilegur Jazz-Rokk bræðingur af bestu gerð.
Aðrir meðlimir eru Steingrímur Guðmundsson á trommur, Stefán Ingólfsson á bassa, Lárus Grímsson hljómborð og Friðrik Karlsson er sérstakur gestur á gítar.
Upprununalegum upptökum hefur verið haldið óbreytt.
