My ear likes at the moment...animal noises i.e. owls hooting, birds chirping, tigers and lions roaring, the wind blowing, horses galloping, tibetan bowls, native american flutes, chimes, the sea from a seashell....
Singer-songwriter Susie Suh continues to
captivate audiences around the world with her soulful voice and
lyrics. Garnering respect and recognition from the press and
her peers for her songwriting and live performances, Suh begins a
new chapter in her musical journey with the release of an EP entitled
The Bakman Tapes.
Born in Los Angeles and of Korean descent, Susie has been compared to artists like Cat Power, Feist, and Fiona Apple. She has had a US record deal on Sony Epic and a debut album produced by multiple Grammy award winner Glen Ballard. Suh has also been featured on NPR, Sirius Radio, NBC news, Fox news, the New York Times, and received four stars in Blender Magazine for her debut album.
The Bakman Tapes - part one is the first of these recordings.
It is three songs with the single “Feather in the Wind” the highlight and
will be released June 24th. Part two will be released later this year.
* “With a rich, husky voice and a gift for melodies that rise with her emotions, Susie Suh sings persuasively about the search for love.” –NY Times
* …is a singer-songwriter in the Beth Orton mode, only considerably more sultry.” –The Village Voice
* “…Suh has a deep voice that slips easily into a sultry vibrato, investing the songs with a soulful earnestness that’s as affecting as it is candid.” –Paste Magazine
* “…her voice, a highly emotional engine of silk and smoke and breaks and flows, boasts more sonic dimensionality than any new singer’s in years, and time and again her singing occupies, enlivens, and stretches through spaces in the spare arrangements in ways that most singer-songwriters’ voices physically cannot.” –The Believer
* “On a debut recording almost two decades ago, an English-Nigerian named Sade figured out a way to sound warmly familiar yet utterly original. No one has quite repeated that feat-until now…Singing with gravity, athletic power and uncut intimacy, Suh is amazing for the first half of her album, and better throughout the second. A work of reserve and passion, this is a debut in full blaze.” -Four Stars , Blender Magazine
My new song ‘TODAY OF ALL DAYS’ is collaboration with composer and pianist Elizabeth Anne Maddieton. http://www.myspace.com/pianorama and me, in shifting. The collaboration was totally digital, I love that we artists can work together no matter how far apart we live. I live in the United Kingdom and Elizabeth lives in the United States. So give it a play and enjoy the song that was made from far away.
In the magicalities of a could, Between the probabilities of a would, Beyond the trivialities of a should, In these ungraspable mysticalities There lies a secret a passage… To this extraordinary wood.
But for you, it unfolds easily and true And the only thing you have to do Is press play, and you’ll have a view.
