Late nights and lazy mornings; dreams; love, longing and heartache; travel and the sounds of Kitty Margolis, Madeline Eastman, Kenny Washington (vocalist), Anita O'Day, Shirly Horn, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Louis Armstrong, Sarah Vaughn, Chet Baker, Julie London, Dakota Staton, Dinah Washington, Helen Merrill, Susannah McCorkle, Patsy Cline, Lauryn Hill, Eva Cassidy, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Paul Simon, Patti Griffin, Martin Sexton, and Ani Difranco...to name but only a few.
Suzanna Smith is an emerging talent on the Bay Area jazz scene. With sparkling charm, a golden tone and an innate sense of swing, Suzanna joyfully brings classic jazz standards to life...singing each song as if it's the one she wants her audience to remember her by.
Suzanna lists Anita O'Day, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughn, Shirly Horn, Chet Baker, Julie London, Patsy Cline and Otis Redding as her influences. Drawing from this diverse group, Suzanna has developed a sound and style that is totally unique. Her soulful blend is simple, yet sophisticated — true and distinctive.
Currently studying at the Berkeley Jazzschool and privately with jazz vocalist Kitty Margolis, Suzanna has also studied with Madeline Eastman, Laurie Antonioli, Kenny Washington, Maye Cavallaro, and Stephanie Bruce, pianist Jeffrey Gaeto, and pianist Kelly Park, owner of the former East Bay jazz hotspot Kelly's of Alameda.
Suzanna performs regularly at Savanna Jazz and The Octavia Lounge, swinging jazz joints in San Francisco. From 2006-2007, Suzanna regularly entertained audiences at Kelly's of Alameda in Alameda, CA, performing every other Friday night; a run cut short only by the sale of the venue. In addition, she has performed in San Francisco at The Purple Onion, Bistro Yoffi, The Jazzschool in Berkeley, Bacio Cafe in San Mateo and at private events around the Bay Area.
Suzanna continues to win over Bay Area audiences, bringing warmth and grace to each performance and leaving a room full of new fans.

I'm glad I finally got the chance to listen in on your page. Wow. You've got perfect pitch and poise, great range and looks, lots of swing and style and you certainly sing the lyrics like you mean every word. This is the best version of "I Thought About You" that I know. Are you going to release a CD soon? I'd love to hear more from you. good luck with all you plans Susanna
THank you Suzanna for your kind comments. Madeline and Kitty are wonderful singers and lovely people, you are blessed to be near them! You have a great voice too and I enjoyed your songs here, particularly I Thought About You - one of my fave songs and you do a lovely job with it. All best wishes to you Dave
Thanks for adding me! Your voice is amazing!! I've been a fan of Diana Krall for years but I have to say that your voice has an even smoother, bigger quality sound then hers. I'd buy your CDs and pay good money to see you in concert, too! [Sorry, Diana!] I consider you another one of my lucky finds here in the world of MySpace.
