Derek (Svenalike)'s Interests
General
My keenest interest is in keeping my act fresh and entertaining. The sound of applause and laughter on leaving the stage after another successful appearance is a wonderful reward for the attention I spend in preparing and perfecting every aspect of my "look", voice, posture presentation and material.
I also very much hope that I can continue to amaze and entertain the widest possible range of audiences for the forseeable future and the world remains full of smilling faces who think they know my face......
It has been my privilege also to be involved in raising over £80,000 for a variety of very worthy charities and I hope that I may add to this on an ongoing basis.
Music
As "Sven" I am sure you would expect my favourite group to be ABBA..., and It's strange that I have always liked their stuff even before becoming the alter ego of the enigmatic Swedish charmer!
I think however, my taste in music could be described as wide and varied including everything from Classical to Hard Rock and since my wife has Irish roots, I have also aquired a liking for a whole range of traditional and modern Celtic music and slightly weird but somehow compelling stuff from the Penguin Cafe Orchestra (sample:)

I have had the privilege of working on GMTV many times and had a four week run on Top of the Pops Reloaded (with The Sugababes and Craig David amoung others). My starring role in an episode of MacIntyre's Big Sting was a gas and the 9 continuous hours live on Sky One's Music Industry Celebrity soccer six World Cup was something of a highlight and very worth while for the charities who benefited from the entertaining week end of broadcasts.
The (terribly titled!) "lookey Likey" prime time TV series was great fun to shoot and was "comedy pick of the day" in several week end TV guides when it was broadcast. I was very proud to be acclaimed by the producer (Sean Miller) as "the most convincing lookalike in the UK". (The series is rumoured for a second showing so watch out for it if you missed it the first time...)

My real heroes are mainly among the (often underated and overlooked) talented actors and performers who also "by coincidence" happen to be "dead ringers" for well known celebrities. You may be interested to here and see the rest of the news regarding my "conquest" of Mexico but please know that there was NO use of fake documents or claims of my authenticity. SEEING IS BELIEVING and all doors were opened without question for "Sven".
All of the many fotball officials and star coaches encountered over 2 amazing days did NOT see through the initial encounters but were informed of the whole series of harmless pranks afterwards and all without exception saw the funny side of the stunts which were never designed to cause any embarassment to anyone.

As soon as Sven Goran Eriksson was appointed by The FA (as the England head coach and manager) I became the subject of intense public interest and was (and remain) frequently stopped in the street for autographs or photos.
With a background in performing and public speaking, it was a fairly natural transition to become a professional celebrity impersonator and I am represented by a wide range of lookalike, entertainer, casting and speaking agencies and have a wide repertoire of solo and double acts including Hospitality host, "larger than life real dead ringer" celebrity guest, stand up comedy and after dinner speaking that keeps me very busy most of the time.
I have had extensive exposure on prime time TV for many years but the interest peaked during 2006 with the World Cup and I achieved over 30 hours of broadcast time on BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV2, 9 hours live on Sky one, and many other TV and video and a huge variety of live club and other venue performances including pre-match hospitality and party entertainment for TheFA during which I have been mistaken for the real thing by FA staff and members of the England squad.
I have had a number of TV assignments throughout 2007 with several more in discussion for 2008 and will feature quite extensively within "Goal!III the movie" due for general cinema release Spring/Summer 2008.
I am constantly gratified to be so well received by all (even though England failed to bring home the W-Cup)and it seems that the general public recognise the achievements of my doppelganger in winning all but four competitive games in the five and a half years he was in office.... The controversy (and sometimes inventive hype by the press?) that has surounded Sven-Goran has done nothing but increase the public'd fascination for the enigmatic Swedish "babe magnet" and the act that I have devoloped never fails to intrigue and entertain I am pleased to say.
