“This is a display of just how good an album from an underground, unsigned act can be. This was made by an independent Sydney band but looks and sounds like it came from the stables of Nuclear Blast or Century Media.”
- Goreripper, Pyromusic.net.
“There are countless bands within today’s melodic death metal scene, but there are precious few that breathe new life into the sound. Switchblade is one of those few to do just that. There’s no question that Invictus Infinitum is a strong contender as one of best Australian metal releases for this year.”
- Justin Donnelly, Blistering.com.
“Switchblade's sound is an achievement that itself ought to be congratulated, but the fact that the songs have so much bite, vitality and worthwhile hooks means that Invictus Infinitum is easily one of the most accomplished Australian metal releases of this decade. How are this band still un-signed?.”
- Brendan Crabb, Loud Australia Magazine.
“Switchblade’s latest release is a highlight in the local scene so far for 2009 and should rightfully be devoured by the Aussie metal population out there in no time. Invictus Infinitum has launched them to the upper echelon of Australian melodic music through catchy hooks and matured musicianship.”
- Brendan Amos, Metalobsession.net.
“This is yet another criminally overlooked local band unleashing an album that would ritualistically slaughter some of the generic crap that the big European labels seem to sign up every couple of weeks.” - Brian Fischer-Giffin, AusMetalGuide.com.
"Indeed Switchblade stake a claim as one of the country’s best up-and-coming metal bands, on a par with much of what the NWOAHM (New Wave of American Heavy Metal) has thrown forth." - Rod Yates, Kerrang! Magazine.
“Switchblade are truly showing that they can stand proud amongst the best of the current crop of metal bands worldwide.” – Simon Milburn, TheMetalForge.com.
In late 2007, Sydney metal band Switchblade played their final live shows in support of their debut album “The End of All Once Known”. Following multiple national tours and supports with Machine Head (USA), Trivium (USA), Nevermore (USA), and an appearance at Australia’s largest metal festival, Metal For The Brain, the band was to cease all activity, and resurface with a new album, a new resolve, and a new musical vision designed to re-affirm their position as a dominating force in Australian metal.
Enter the new album, “Invictus Infinitum”. Nine tracks of blistering guitar solos, relentless down-tuned riffs and a vicious vocal attack, all while introducing a maturity and melodic sensibility not yet heard from this Sydney quintet.
Enlisting the internationally acclaimed production services of Darren "jENK" Jenkins (Cryogenic, Mortality), Grammy award winning producer Neil Kernon (Nevermore, Jeff Loomis, Nile, Cannibal Corpse) and mastering engineer Alan Douches (Dillinger Escape Plan, God Forbid, Hatebreed) Switchblade have ensured that they will no longer be shackled to the remote confines of the Australian metal scene, but viewed as a competitive rising force in metal worldwide.
This is Switchblade, as you’ve never heard them before.
