CANTON, MI .. Sweet Crystal recently traveled to Nashville, Tennessee and was presented one of independent Christian music’s most prestigious awards, the 2009 Momentum Award for their continued lifelong pursuit of their musical dreams.

For almost 3 decades, the founding musicians of the rock band SWEET CRYSTAL - Marq, Bill Blatter (guitars) and Steve Wieser (drums) have been pursuing their careers and music with a perseverance that has just paid off with a surprising award.

The band recently traveled to Nashville to showcase at the CIA Summit – the annual Christian Independence Alliance get-together honoring the best in Indy Christian music from around the world. Sweet Crystal played for fellow attendees and industry personnel and considered the show was the highlight of a great week. Much to their surprise though they were to receive a special award at the climax of the event, a 2009 Momentum Award – Indy’s version of the Dove or Grammy - for their perseverance in 35 years of playing.

“We were totally surprised by this” says Marq. “They played a 4 minute retrospective of our careers going back to 1973 and the response from the audience was heart-warming and humbling to us. It’s probably the biggest award we’ve had to date and we plan to display it proudly, both at our studio and on our website.”

“And we’re just getting started” adds Bill.
