Synth Dimension is creating music in instrumental electronica genre which combines the classic electronic sound of the 80-ties with the modern technology of sound. Synth Dimension is influenced by synthpop, italo disco, and spacesynth genres but at the same time is noted to be a lot more melodic.
The leader of the project is Ruslan Bozhok, a professional composer and producer from Moscow, Russia. Ruslan is running his own recording studio and is currently finishing work on his second album. Tracks of his first album, "Dreams of Electronic Mind", are available in all major digital stores.
Here is, in Ruslan's own words, a story of how he came about to be composing music in this genre [excerpts from a 2008 interview]:
How the spacey and mysterious sound found its way into my music .. I started learning to play the piano when I was 6, then attended music school. When I was 17, I became very enthusiastic about programming synthesizers, and also began to compose my own music.
Over time, I was introduced to genres of New Age and spacesynth, which I respect and like to this day. I find the latter genre to be very romantic. It reminds me of the 80-ties, the era of first personal computers. For me it is the genre of my dreaming soul :)
What about Synth Dimension? In the music that I create for Synth Dimension project, I experiment more with the musical form and new sounds, and also to keep an eye on the melody and harmonies.
Sometimes the inspiration for the music comes from a rhythm, and sometimes from a sound. It also happens that I have an image in my mind which is best described in music. In general, I think that the main thing is not the rhythm and not even the sounds, the main thing is the image! If the music does not have the image that is thoroughly “felt” and defined by the author, the listeners will not be able to relate to it.
Are the 80s making a comeback in your album "Dreams of Electronic Mind"? In my first album, I intentionally was working towards the resurrection of the old sound of the 80-ties. Now I am no longer planning to keep that kind of sound, I would rather keep up with the time sound-wise, but also I am not going to sacrifice the melodies in my music. ...
