My music is influenced by life experience, mistakes, passion, anger, love, sorrow, regret, fulfilment, being in love, withdrawl, craving, want, hurt, resistance, fear, estrogen, dreams, realization, destruction - the list goes on.
I've been involved in many different genres of the music world and my debut, self titled album which I also wrote and produced, is pretty good example of the ever expanding relationship I share with music.
Listen up, I just want to tell you…
it’s ‘bout the way you don’t seem to understand….no.
Well I’ve done nothing wrong at all,
I only opened the windows to my eyes.
You can’t say I’m not strong no more,
‘cuz now I’ve found the road to
where my life is mean’t to be heading.
So many times I just wanted to go,
but when and where
I begun were my questions.
Now I’ve figured it out finally,
no one can stop me they can try
but I would only go harder.
My deepest fear,
is what I laugh at now.
If you could see,
where I am right now.
Have I made it clear?
I’m what you wanted me to be,
But you couldn’t wait,
you couldn’t hesitate
to leave me in my own little world
Szilva is a female solo-artist, songwriter and music producer from Melbourne, Australia. She is a first generation Australian native with a Hungarian family heritage from both sides of her parents.
Szilva was already set on her music career aspirations at a very early age in her childhood, when she quickly discovered her natural singing talents and vocal abilities.
Her first taste of singing in front of a live audience began when she was cast as the lead performer in the musical, RueBen, which attracted thousands per show. This experience ignited a flame that forever changed Szilva’s life. Her school years were consumed by musical theatre productions, along with weekly choir practice, and piano lessons. By her early teenage years, Szilva began writing her own lyrics and songs.
“Writing melodies and harmonies have always come to me naturally,” says Szilva.
As the lead vocalist/writer in various bands and groups, Szilva covered a multitude of genres including rock, funk, electronica, pop, dance, and R&B. Szilva was heard on National radio and seen in newspapers and magazine publications throughout Australia. As half of pop duo SilvaTek, Szilva experienced her first taste of National radio airplay and performed at the world famous “Crown Casino,” the largest and most exclusive casino in the Southern Hemisphere.
During this time, Szilva was selected as the winner of an annual nationwide competition called the 'Nescafe Big Break,’ which thousands of talented young Australians compete in each year. Szilva used the money from the monetary grant that she was awarded to purchase music equipment, which she instantly put to good use.
Hungry to move forward, Szilva branched off into a solo career, and taught herself production techniques to record her own music. As she puts it in her own words, “I could hear the songs playing in my head and I knew that teaching myself the technical side of production was crucial to share my music with the world.”
Through a vigorous course of trial and error, Szilva wrote, produced and recorded her first solo album on her own in her home studio in Melbourne.
When it comes to influences, Szilva has always been attracted to revolutionary artists, singers, and bands that have stepped outside the box and branded a new path into the world of music. Artists of this caliber include Michael Jackson, Prince, The Black Eyed Peas, Evanescence, Nine Inch Nails, and Rage Against the Machine. As she puts it, “I think it’s such a beautiful thing to see how music cycles and reinvents itself over time. As an artist, it’s my intention to open doors to new styles and create my own path in the changing music industry today.”
Szilva is a classically trained vocalist, and has been known to create combinations of melodic patterns in her songs, which is the result of her discovery and study of many different styles of music throughout her life. Traces of eastern, jazz, and classical, are just some of the styles of music that are highly evident in the evolution of Szilva’s sound.
Szilva is now based in Los Angeles and has performed all over the Southern California area, the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and music industry showcases. She has also been a featured artist on radio interviews and public access television. In 2007, Szilva won the Semi Finals of the Emergenza Music Festival (Los Angeles Division), amongst a dozen LA bands who were chosen for the first round of the competition. Szilva was also the only female artist voted into the Grand Finals of the 2007 MVT music video competition, out of the 100,000s of eligible bands on myspace.
In late 2008, Szilva's song “Till We Meet Again” climbed to number 4 for the weekly Top 20 on SongBox in Sweden. Szilva has also produced music for videos featured on Rollingstone.com and Usmagazine.com, including:
In February of 2009 Szilva finished a music video for her latest single, "Own Little World.”
The music video will be broadcast throughout Australia on National television on the music show “RAGE.” To announce its worldwide release, “Own Little World” will be available for download on I-Tunes in April of 2009.
Currently, Szilva is the music supervisor and composer of an AFI film called Birkin Bag. The screenwriter of the film, Sara Sugarman, is the director of Walt Disney Pictures’ Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, starring Lindsey Lohan. Twelve of Szilva’s songs have been chosen for this film, which will be screened in international film festivals around the world upon its completion. For more information go the link below:

Today, Szilva continues to expand her multi-faceted solo career, working with internationally renown producers including, Chris Landon, who has written and produced music for Universal, Disney, and legendary female vocalist, Taylor Dayne. With a loyal international fan-base of over 30,000 supporters across the globe, Szilva is well into writing her next album as she prepares for a 2009 World Tour.

Hi Szilva! It's lovely to hear from you again! I've really missed you!!! I guess you've been working very hard in the Studio!!! I'm fine myself! I'm currently writing a Poem about conquering your fears and also looking into the other aspects of fear! I also recently had a holiday in Italy, which was awesome! It's a beautiful place! I'm extremely pleased to hear about your video for, 'I Don't Care' That is wonderful News Szilva! You must be really excited about it! I wish I could be there now, to help you celebrate, over a beer! I'm mega proud of you!!! But now onto your question! It's quite hard for me to pick a favourite! Because I've always loved all your songs immensely, that they all feel like favourites of mine, for different reasons! Because each one is written, with amazing lyrics and beautiful music! And there is much diversity to your music genre and your cool vocal range! But I guess the one, which captivates me the most is, 'Own Little World' I absolutely love that song and I cannot get enough of the video! From the minute, you open those enchanting eyes and sing those first notes, I am entranced to that song! I do have other favourites though! I think 'Take My Hand' is certainly a Hit, because your vocals are fantastic and it would look good on video and also I love the energy of 'Over and Over'! That reminds me of the type of music, which you just want to Rock out to! Whether you are out clubbing or just in your bedroom! It's such a great number and I think you could have so much fun with that, in a video too! Finally I love the beautiful sound of your voice in, 'Close Your Eyes' I'm swept away with emotion, when I hear that one! It's dreamy and is wonderfully sung! Hope my feedback helps!!! Have a wonderful and productive Week!!! Much Love Always, Paul xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
